About Indian Institute of Technology - IIT Indore

IIT Indore is an autonomous engineering and technology institute of higher education belonging to the famed IITs which are institutions of national importance. Indian Institute of Technology Indore is one of the 8 New IITs, initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (India), Government of India. Its foundation-stone was laid on 17^th February 2009. It started its first session from July 19^th 2009 in a temporary campus at Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilyabai University under mentorship of IIT Bombay. As of 2011, the Institute is functioning from the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET), IET‐DAVV Campus, Khandwa Road, Indore. Its actual campus will come up in 525 acre of land at Simrol, 25 km from Indore. As of 2011, IIT Indore offers 4-year B. Tech programmes and Ph.D. programmes in various disciplines.

From Indore Railway Station

• Hire an Auto-rickshaw (fare approx. Rs. 70) or Taxi (fare approx. Rs. 200) up to IET after Asaram Bapu Chauraha, Khanwa Road. OR
• Take Indore City Bus Route no.11 and get down at IET, DAVV Campus (after Asaram Bapu Chauraha) and walk inside the campus to M-Block, IET.

From Indore airport

• Hire a Taxi from the baggage hall (fare approx. Rs. 300) from the Baggage Hall up to IET after Asaram Bapu Chauraha, Khandwa Road. OR
• Take Indore City Bus route no. 7 or 11 and get down at DAVV Campus (after Asaram Bapu Chauraha) and walk inside the campus to M-Block, IET.

Facilities

Hostels - There are 2 hostels for students. Hostel kshipra and hostel narmada. Separate accommodation for girl students is also available. Mess facility in the Hostel premises has also been provided apart from other facilities.

VCR - Virtual Class Room is an advanced distance education system which uses internet, computers, supplicated video conferencing devices as teaching instruments. In this type of environment neither teacher nor students are physically present. It provides a set of tools and utility to enhance on-line learning. It offers live classes, office hours and group discussions at times that are convenient for instructors and students, not just when the physical facilities are available. It can be used for Webinars, Tuition, One-to-one training and tuition, mentoring, Interviews, Team meetings, Project meetings, Sales demonstrations, Client meetings, Technical support, Customer service, On-line user communities.

Computer Centre - Computational facilities include over 250+ networked PCs and latest laptops.  The institute has campus-wide intranet supporting networked PCs and high speed dedicated intranet links. Supported by IBM Servers.

Central Library – IITI has a vast collection of books, reference books, periodicals, English classics and electronic resources. The Library has a collection of over 10,000 books. Various magazines and newspapers have also been subscribed. Online Information Resources provides its users access to the electronic journals database ‘Elsevier’s Science Direct.’ The other databases the Library is subscribing through the INDEST Consortium include ASME (American Society for Mechanical Engineers), DEL (Digital Engineering Library), and IEL Online (IEEE Xplore Digital Library). It also has an Wi-Fi enabled Reading Hall.

Laboratories - IIT Indore provides various equipments to various departments of the institute through its laboratories.

• Physics Laboratory: It is equipped with helmholtz coils set up with teslameter and power supply, thermal conductivity measurement set, fresnel's biprism set up etc.
• Computer Science & Engineering Laboratories - Data structures and algorithms lab, soft computing lab, design and analysis of algorithm lab etc.
• Electrical Engineering Laboratories – Various such labs provide oscilloscopes, benchtop and handheld digital multimeters and various others.
• Mechanical Engineering Laboratories – These provide facilities like flow rate demonstration unit, AutoCAD software for 2D and 3D modelling, microhardness (vicker/knoop hardness) testing machine etc.

Scholarships & Fellowships – IITI offers various scholarships & fellowships mentioned below:

• NFS Scholarship:  North South Foundation Scholarship is meant for 1st year, B. Tech. students.
• TCS Scholarship: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has established the TCS Research Scholarship scheme for Ph.D students of computer science branch.
• Govt./ Semi Govt. Fellowship Awardees: (CSIR, UGC, DAE, DST, DBT, NBHM, commonwealth, Nehru Memorial Scholarship, etc.).
• Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship.
