About Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism

Makhanalal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism or Makhanlal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakarita Avam Sanchar Vishwavidyalaya is a public university located in Bhopal. It is also known by the name Makhanlal University. It was set up by the Act 15 of 1990 of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and also recognised by UGC. Historically, it is named after Makhan Lal Chaturvedi, a freedom fighter, poet and journalist. The University was formally inaugurated on 16 January 1991. It is also a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Location - The main campus of University is in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh India. It has also campuses in Noida, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh (adjoining Delhi) and at Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.

Makhanalal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism Facilities

Library Facilities - The University has a well organised Library and Documentation Unit. The collection of Library comprises more than ten thousands books on different subjects. All national and local newspapers (Hindi and English) are subscribed along with important national and international news magazines and professional journals in addition to international libraries like British newspaper clippings and files on various subjects are special features of its Documentation Unit

Computer Lab Facilities - There are facilities of computer labs in each campus of the University. The curriculum of each course has been developed in such a way that it is mandatory for the student to learn and practice all the essential applications of computer knowledge for their respective courses.

Media Magazine - There is a quarterly bi-lingual magazine namely Media Mimansa, it is being brought out by the University as a forum for Media analysis and review. Articles on various facets of Communication, contributed by eminent persons both from the academic, professional and media world are published in it.

Co-Curricular Activities - The University organises cultural and literary activities for students’ cultural developments. They also participate in Inter-University competitions organised by the Association of Indian Universities and other bodies.

Printing Lab Facilities The University has a well equipped printing press, DTP system and latest computer software. There are also wire services of PTI and UNI and students of various courses bring out lab journals using these facilities.

Audio & Video Lab - The University has its own studio for television and radio programme production with digital post production facilities. Students utilize lab and get maximum hands-on experience and learn performing skills.

NSS Facilities - Students participate in social work through the National Service Scheme (N.S.S.).
