M.Tech Physical Metallurgy or Master of Technology in Physical Metallurgy is a two-year postgraduate program. The primary goal of this course is to establish a physical foundation that connects the structure of materials with their characteristics, with a concentration on metals. With this understanding, the concepts of alloy design and microstructural engineering are presented, which relate processing and thermodynamics to metal structure and attributes.

The selection, treatment, and usage of metals and alloys is one of the most difficult tasks that engineers face. These issues cannot be left solely to the metallurgist but must be addressed to a significant extent by the engineer. The course covers the fundamental themes in metallurgy, providing students with the skills they need to work with and comprehend metallurgical processes and ideas. The influence of heating and alloying on metals is discussed. The states of equilibrium and non-equilibrium are compared.

M.Tech Physical Metallurgy Eligibility

  • The aspiring students must have qualified for their BE / B.Tech degree or any other equivalent qualification in a relevant subject from a recognized University.
  • The candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their Bachelor's.
  • Some of the very reputed universities and institutes conduct entrance examinations to get admission to the degree course.

M.Tech Physical Metallurgy Course Suitability

  • The Master of Technology in Physical Metallurgy program is appropriate for developing industrial processes such as melting, casting, alloying, rolling, and welding.
  • They develop and control the processes that create items such as structural steel, wire, and aluminum sheets.

How is the M.Tech Physical Metallurgy Course Beneficial?

  • Process engineers are frequently hired to manage diverse metallurgical procedures.
  • These experts can also work as design engineers, consultants, and in other positions in connected businesses.
  • Academics and research are two more areas where the individual might pursue a career. DMRC, BSNL, MTNL, ONGC, and other public sector organizations hire these candidates.
