AFCAT 2024 - Air Force Combined Admission Test acronym as AFCAT is conducted by India Air Force for grant of Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent/Short Service Commission in Technical and Ground Duty Branches of the IAF after the successful completion of the courses.

AFCAT 2024 Eligibility

For Flying Branch

  • Candidates must be passed the 12th Examination in Maths and Physics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject area from a recognized University, 

OR

  • Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology of 4 years from a recognized University
  • Must possess a minimum of 60% aggregate marks

Age Limit

  • Candidates should be between 20 years to 24 years at the time of selection.
  • However, candidates holding valid Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) will be relaxed in age up to 26 years.

Physical Standards

Minimum Height

  • 162.5 cms with correlated weight

Leg length

  • Min-99 cms, and
  • Max-120 cms

Thigh Length

  • Max-64cms

Sitting height

  • Min-81.5 cms
  • Max-96 cms

Vision

  • 6/6 and 6/9

 

For Technical Branch

For Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) AE (L):

  • Candidates applying for AE(L) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four-year degree qualification from a recognized university

OR 

  • Cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate Membership Examination of the Institue of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies.

Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) AE (M):

  • Candidates applying for AE(M) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four-year degree qualification from a recognized university

OR

  • Cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate Membership Examination of the Institue of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies.

Age Limits

Candidates should be below 26 years.

AFCAT 2024 Pattern

  • The AFCAT Question Paper will have 100 questions carrying three marks each.
  • For every correct answer, the candidate will get three marks and for every wrong answer, one mark will be deducted from the negative marking.
  • The total time allotted for the paper is two hours.

Air Force Combined Admission Test Selection Process

Candidates who qualify in the AFCAT Written test will be called for the next phase of the selection process divided into three stages i.e.,

Medical Examinations

Candidates recommended by the Selection Board will be sent for the medical examination either at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), New Delhi, or the Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru.

All India Merit List

An All India Merit List is compiled on the basis of your performance in the written test and AFSB interview and subject to being medically fit. Based on the vacancies available in various branches/ sub-branches, joining instructions are issued to join one of the Training establishments.
