Bank CET 2014- Indian Banks Association has launched a Common All India Entrance Test (CET) to be started from 2011. The exams will be mainly for clerical staff and entry-point officers like Probationary officers, Specialist Officers - Law Officers, EDP Officers, Tech. and Management Executives.

Twenty public sector banks have joined this in an attempt to stream line Bank Recruitment in Public Sector Banks in India and curtail the time period and mental tension while going through the lengthy already existing recruitment process. However the SBI group has its own recruitment process and it will continue with it.

Bank CET Eligibility

Eligibility conditions for taking Bank CET exam are as follows:

Educational Qualification

Bachelor's degree of a recognized University in any discipline or its equivalent recognized as such by the Central Government with certain minimum percentage of marks as prescribed by different banks in their information broucher. Generally it varies from 60% to 70%.

Working knowledge of computer is also required to take up this exam.   

Age

Not below 21 years and not above 30 years. Relaxation in upper age limit is as per rules for specified categories including SC/ST/OBC etc.

Nationality

A candidate must be either a citizen of India or one holding eligibility certificates issued by the Government of India.

Bank CET consists of questions from the following given Subjects:

  2. English Language
  3. Quantitative Aptitude
  4. General Knowledge
  5. Computers

Bank CET tests, except the Test of English Language and Descriptive Paper on English composition, will be printed bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi. The Descriptive Papers of only those candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in each of the objective tests will be evaluated.

There will be penalty of 1/4 marks for wrong answers marked in the Objective Test. If the total of the penalty for a test is in fraction, the marks obtained will be rounded off to the nearest integer, i.e. if fraction exceeds by 0.50 or more, it will be rounded off to next higher integer.

If for any question a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as wrong even if one of the given answers happens to be right

However  If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.

Bank CET Cut Off Score

Each participating candidate will have to secure a minimum standardized score in each of the tests to qualify in the written examination and to be considered for vacancies in the participating banks.

The cut-off points/score will be decided based on the average (Average – ¼ Standard Deviation for General category candidates and Average – ¾ Standard Deviation for Reserved Category candidates).

Recruitment procedure after Bank CET Written Exam

Once a candidate passes the common entrance exam, all that he or she has to do is to respond to an individual bank's advertisement and appear for an interview for the final selection in the back.

How to apply for Bank CET Exam?

Aspiring candidates can apply Online at IBS website only. Application Fee:Rs.450 (Rs.50 for SC/ST/PWD candidates) can be paid online at the time of filling the application form online through Online Payment Gateways of the Banks/ Credit Card  OR through NEFT to all respective banks. Keep the details/receipts of the fee submission safely as it is to be shown at the time of written test.

Bank CET Exam validity

The validity of the exam will be for one and half year. The recruitment process will be administered by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) on behalf of PSBs, once the candidate clears the common test.

IBPS will declare the results of the exam and give a scorecard to the candidates which will be valid for up to one to one-and-a-half-years. Once the validity period of the scorecard expires, the candidate will have to reappear for the exam.
