CA CPT - Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test commonly known as CA CPT Examination is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for admitting aspiring students to the Chartered Accountancy course. The institute conducts the Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test (CA CPT) twice a year (June and December), in all the major cities throughout India.

 

CA CPT Exam Eligibility

Educational Qualification

  • Aspiring students should have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent, from any recognized Board.

 

CA CPT Exam Pattern

This 200 marks, an objective type multiple choice questions, test is divided into two sessions of 2 Hr. duration each  is conducted in two modes by the institute i.e.,

Paper Pencil Mode: Paper Pencil Mode of Examination is conducted in the morning session and evening sessions with each carrying two parts.

Online Registration Mode: For the Online Registration Mode of Examination, the students have to fill out an examination form Online, and then, this examination is held at various centers across India.

CA CPT Exam Syllabus

The aspirants who want to take the CA CPT Exam should have basic knowledge of the fundamentals of Accounting, mercantile law, general economics, and quantitative aptitude. Topics in each subject are given below.

Theoretical Framework, Bank Reconciliation Statement, Accounting Process, Introduction to Company Accounts, Partnership Accounts, Accounting for Special Transactions, Preparation of Final Accounts for Sole Proprietors, Depreciation Accounting, Inventories.

The Indian Contract Act 1872, The Sale of Goods Act, 1930, and the India Partnership Act, 1932.

Economic Reforms in India, Select aspects of Indian Economy, Indian Economy – A Profile, Price Determination in Different Markets, Theory of Production and Cost, Theory of Demand and Supply, Micro Economics.

Sampling Theory, Theoretical Distributions, Probability and Expected Value by Mathematical Expectation, Correlation, and Regression, Measures of Central Tendency and Dispersion, Statistical description of data,

Basic concepts of Differential and Integral Calculus, Limits and Continuity - Intuitive Approach, Sets, Functions and Relations, Sequence and Series – Arithmetic and geometric progressions,

How to register for CA CPT Exam?

Interested candidates can register with the Board of Studies on submission of the prescribed filled-in form. The form can also be downloaded from the website i.e., www.icai.org

 

How to apply for CA CPT Exam?

Candidates can adopt any of the ONLINE or OFFLINE modes for the CPT Exam application.

For Off-Line Mode

Applications for admission to the Common Proficiency Test are required to be made in the relevant prescribed form as contained in the Information Brochure, which may be obtained from:

  • on payment of Rs. 1000/- (Rs.500/- towards the examination fee and Rs. 500/- towards the cost of an application form and Information brochure) per application form.
  • The fee for candidates opting for Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, and Bahrain centers will be US $160 (US $150 towards the examination fee and the US $ 10 towards the cost of an application form and information brochure) or its equivalent Indian Currency.
  • The fee for the candidates opting for the Kathmandu center is required to remit INR. 1350/- (INR 850 towards the examination fee and INR. 500/- towards the cost of an application form and information brochure) or its equivalent foreign Currency.

Note: Since the cost of the Information brochure containing the Common Proficiency Test application form includes the examination fee, no separate fee is required to be remitted at the time of submitting the filled-in application form.

Common Proficiency Test application forms duly filled in may be sent so as to reach the Additional Secretary (Examinations) in New Delhi no later than the prescribed date.  

For Online Mode

The candidates who fill up the examination application form online at http://icaiexam.icai.org and remit the fee online by using either VISA or MASTER Credit/Debit Card shall not be charged Rs. 500/- (i.e., cost of application form fee) in order to popularize filling-in of application form online.

 

CA CPT Exam Fee

For CA CPT Course

The registration and tuition fee is Rs. 6000/- which is to be paid at the time of submitting the fully filled-in application form for registration.

For CA CPT Exam

A student has to follow the examination notification to be issued by the Examination Department of the ICAI and apply in the prescribed form along with the examination fee of Rs. 1000/-. The examination department will announce the examination centers and issue admission cards.

 

CA CPT Exam Dates

CA CPT Exam is held twice a year in the months of June and December.
