CDS Exam 2024 - Combined Defense Services Exam acronym CDSE is conducted by UPSC on a national basis to fill nearly 345 vacancies of Defense Officers (Army Officer, Air Force Officer, Navy Officer) in all three branches i.e., Army, Air Force, and Navy of Indian Armed forces. Due to its National level approach, this test is taken by most of the defense services aspirants on a priority basis. The brack of vacancies will be as follows:

Educational Qualification
- For opting Army, the candidate must be a graduate of any stream. OR
- For the Air Force or Navy, the candidate must be a graduate with Maths, Physics, and Chemistry as the Main subjects at this level. OR
- Those who are taking final years of graduation in the present academic year can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.
- Aspiring candidates should have done Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university or equivalent.

CDS Exam 2024 Syllabus
CDS Exam consists of three papers of 2 hours duration each consisting of 100 questions from the following given subjects.

- The English part of the question paper will consist of questions aimed at testing the candidate's understanding of English and workmanlike use of words.
|
- The General Knowledge part of the paper includes knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject.
- The paper will also include questions on the History of India and the Geography of nature which candidates should be able to answer without special study.

Note: The level of all three papers is equivalent to the Metric Standard. There is a negative marking (0.33) in the CDS exam for each wrong response.
Important:-There is a break of 1 Hr each in all the parts of the paper. All three papers are held on the same day. Candidates can opt for Question Papers either in English or in Hindi. This option should be exercised while filling in the Application Form. It cannot be changed later.
CDS Exam 2024 Dates
CDS Exam is held twice a year normally in the month of April and September.
CDS Exam 2024 Fees
- Generally, the fee for the exam is Rs. 200/-
- All Female candidates and candidates belonging to SC / ST are not required to pay any fee.
However, no fee exemption is, however, available to OBC candidates and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee.
Fee: Candidates (excepting female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs 200/- (Rs two hundred only) either by depositing the money in any branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card
