Educational Qualification

Aspiring candidates must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics. OR

Aspiring candidates must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognized University/institution.

Age Limits

Aspiring candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st of January, of the year he is taking the exam.

Reservations as per governmental norms are applicable regarding age limits and job vacancies.

Nationality

A candidate must be either:

• a citizen of India, or
• a subject of Nepal, or
• a subject of Bhutan, or
• a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
• a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka or East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Indian Economic Services/Indian Statistical Services Exam 2024 Pattern

Selections for the IES/ISS are made on the basis of a written test comprising of the following given papers and Personality tests of such candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examination Pattern of the Test:

Part I - Written examination will consist of the following papers of the conventional time

Written examination: Subjects of written examination and marks allotted to each is as follows

A. Indian Economic Services

B. Indian Statistical Services

Note: The Examination in all the subjects will be of conventional (Essay) type. The Question Papers will be set in English only.

Personality Test /Interview Candidates who are shortlisted in the Written Examination are required to appear for an Interview which carries a maximum of 200 marks.

Indian Economic Services/Indian Statistical Services Exam 2024 Fees

• A candidate seeking admission to the examination must pay to the Commission a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees One Hundred only) through a single Central Recruitment Fee Stamp of the requisite denomination. Central Recruitment Fee Stamp (NOT postage stamps) must be obtained from the post office and affixed to the application form in the space provided therein. The stamp may be got canceled from the issuing Post Office with the date stamp of the post office in such a manner that the impression of the cancellation mark partially overflows on the application form itself but within the space provided on the form. The impression of the cancellation mark should be clear and distinct to facilitate the identification of the date and the Post Office of the issue.
• Candidates residing abroad should deposit the prescribed fee in the office of India's High Commissioner, Ambassador or representative abroad as the case may be for credit to account head "051-Public Service Commission-Examination Fees" and attach the receipt with the application.
• Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes are not required to pay any fee. No Fee exemption is, However, Available to OBC.

Physically disabled persons are exempted from the payment of the fee. A physically disabled candidate claiming age relaxation/fee concession will be required by the Commission to submit along with their detailed application form, a certified copy of the certificate from a Government Hospital/Medical Board in support of his claim for being physically disabled.

Important: 'Postage Stamp' will in no case be accepted in lieu of ‘Central Recruitment Fee Stamp’.Fee sent through Indian Postal Orders, Bank Draft, Money Order, Crossed Cheque, Currency Notes or Treasury Challan, etc. will also not be accepted by the Commission

Note 1: Applications not accompanied by the prescribed Fee (Unless remission of Fee is claimed) shall be summarily rejected.
Note 2: Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
Note 3: If any candidate who took the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination held in 2009 wishes to apply for admission to this examination, he must submit his application so as to reach the Commission’s Office by the prescribed date without waiting for the results or an offer of appointment.
