About Jagan Institute of Management Studies - JIMS Delhi

Jagan Institute of Management Studies was set up in 1993. Jagan Nath Gupta Memorial Educational Society is a registered non-profit organization imparting high quality professional education. The faculty of JIMS consists of highly qualified, experienced and dedicated members, making it one of the most admired team among B-schools in India. The institute is located in its own sprawling 1.1 acres campus. Its PGDM Programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India and accredited from National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for excellence in quality education. PGDM has also been granted equivalence to MBA degree by Association of Indian Universities (AIU). JIMS PGDM Programme is recognized as being equivalent to MBA by the Association of Indian Universities.

Location and Transportation - It is situated in the prime Institutional Area at Rohini, away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. The Institute is well served by an extensive transport network. The Metro service is an added advantage for the students commuting to the Institute from different corners of the city.

Facilities

Internship Programs - These are one of the best ways to bring the academic and business community together. It is a win-win situation for both the students of the institute as well as the company providing internship. On one hand they benefit the students by giving them a chance to apply theoretical learning into practice, gaining corporate experience and building network. On the other hand they benefit the employers by enabling them to access ready talent pool, spotting future employees and decreasing recruitment cost significantly.

Classrooms - The classrooms provide the most conducive atmosphere for dynamic and focused discussions. They have been designed to bring together analysis with action and are augmented by well equipped facilities. The air-conditioning in the classrooms creates the right atmosphere for long hours of learning. They are equipped with multimedia and audio-visual equipment to facilitate effective learning. They are designed to promote maximum interaction between the faculty and the students. Each classroom has Internet and Intranet connectivity.

Library and Resource Centre - The library has a rich collection of books and journals predominantly related to management and its allied subjects to meet the present and future information needs of its users. The Institute adds new books to the library every year. Audio and multimedia versions of some course modules are also available. The computerized library of the college provides students with connectivity to the latest technological material through networked work-stations. The library is equipped with a collection of more than 13,500 books on management and IT, with around 102 periodicals and 1,350 research reports. The library uses web-based software, for maintaining the database and circulation relating to daily operations. In addition to this, facilities like CD-ROM workstations, Audio-visual section with video and audio-cassettes are also available.

IT Centre - Operating round the clock,with a large number of desktops (more than 300 PCs), world class servers and a campus wide network with access to Internet and other facilities, which is Wi-Fi enabled to ensure mobile computing at all locations within the campus. The network links the computing resources in the faculty offices, student labs and administrative units. Internet bandwidth of 2 Mbps is taken from VSNL, to provide internet facilities to the Institution. The desktop environment is dominated by world class 300 workstations.The entire network has access to Windows 2003, SUSE and MS-Exchange and Group wise e-mail servers. Internet access to students is available round the clock through 2 Mbps leased line. Firewall software is used as a multiple gateway which also does the bandwidth monitoring and spam control. The software environment includes Oracle 10g, Sql Server 2000,Visual Studio,.Net, Turbo C, Adobe , Photoshop, Symantec, Tally, CorelDraw, Acrobat, Flash, SPSS, Prowess from cmie with details of more than 9000 companies.

Digital Electronics Lab - Digital Electronic, one of the subjects in MCA programme equips the students with all the essential concepts underlying the working of a computer. JIMS provides a fully functional Digital Electronic Laboratory to its students, complete with all the necessary and latest range of tools required to discern the true nature of the logical theory and hence make themselves adept with the fundamentals.

Hostels - The Estimated cost of Boarding and Lodging in Hostels is Rs. 48000-54000 P.A. which is subject to change.

Brainstorm Room - Learning is basically sharing, and group discussion helps to satisfy this need. The brainstorm room is a platform where the communication skills of the students are harnessed and developed. This room serves the purpose of conducting discussions, whereby some members from the corporate interact with a small group of students on various live cases and business related issues. Student can also use this room while working on various projects, presentations etc.

Faculty Development Programme - It is a critical aspect of the Institute's multi-various activities. Several initiatives are taken to make members of the faculty better equipped academically and acsr research oriented. They are free to take up research programmes, write research paper and participate in seminars.

Seminar Hall and  Seminars - The conference hall is an ultra-modern and well equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual and presentation tools to facilitate smooth presentations. All the interactive sessions and the interface with the experts from the corporate world take place in this hall. In its spectrum of activities, besides imparting quality education, JIMS has been organizing a series of seminars and workshops covering various contemporary issues in the field of management and IT.

Rotaract Club - The word ROTARACT has been derived from ROTARY+INTERACT, to fill the gap between Rotary and Interact. ROTARACT also means ‘Rotary in Action’. The ROTARY Club comprises of three levels namely, INTERACT level till 18 years of age, ROTARACT level for 18-30 years of age and ROTARIANS for the age of 30 years and above.

Auditorium - A totally equipped, state of the art auditorium with all support facilities, provides the ideal setting for management events and corporate interaction programmes.

Live Projects - As an integral part of the curriculum, students are required to present a research project on a topic of their interest or specialization. This is an excellent opportunity for the students to have a close interaction with the industry personnel who give them a live project to work on. The project involves a great deal of industry interaction, market research and library reference. On completion, the students are required to make a presentation of their projects before the industry personnel, faculty members and students.

Project Reports - The project reports usually serve as an excellent channel for students to have close interaction with industry experts and therefore provide ample opportunity to the students to demonstrate their analytical and problem solving skills. On preparation of project reports, there is a formal presentation session wherein we invite the corporate executives and faculty members to assess student’s work and share their valuable feedback.

CRMC - Corporate Resource Management Centre is entrusted with the task of selecting, inviting and following up with the various corporate with whom JIMS intends to place its students; be it for their summer training or their final placements. Further, this committee also arranges all Pre-Placement Talks on campus, along with the campus interviews. This also provides students with opportunities for Online Projects, which they can pursue along with their session.

Corporate Checkmate - It is a quarterly lecture series in which leaders from the industry share their knowledge and experience with professionals, academicians and young would-be managers. The Lecture Series has been received well by the corporate world as well as managers-in-the-making. Some of the contemporary issues presented were More, Better,Faster: Charting An Aggressive Course for Indian Banking Sector; Organizational Success Through Effective Human Resource Management and Creating Sustainable Competitive Advantage in Retail Banking.

Placement - Representations from various organizations entail a presentation to appraise students about the organization. Company can also distribute brochures, annual reports, product samples and souvenirs to enhance brand awareness among students. PPT enables a student to evaluate his/her own interest in the company and thus helps them to identify the appropriate profile for themselves. After the PPT the company conducts the selection process to recruit the final year PGDM students. The process may include written test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The Final selections are announced by the company on the same day or within 3 working days. The selected students are given offer letters which they accept by signing and returning a copy to the organization.

Sports -  The Institute has many sports facilities, which include Volleyball court, Basketball court, TT rooms and Badminton court.

Cafeteria - The Cafeteria not only provides a vibrant atmosphere and unleaded fuel for the day but also is an effective way to put forth a new method called the "Cafeteria approach". This is a new method of learning in an informal manner. It helps in nurturing interpersonal skills among students. A modern gourmet class, cafe offers variety of snacks and meals to cater to the multi-ethnic tastes of the students.

Oasis - JIMS celebrates its Annual intra college cultural extravaganza "OASIS" in the month of October every year. It is celebrated as two day event full of Enthusiasm & excitement. Culinary innovation and presentation by JIMS Students. This two day festival consist of various academic activities like (Business quiz, e-attack, debate) & other Enjoying events like (JAM Session, speak your heart, mimicry, mono acting, tal se tal mila) It also includes various events where in students can show their special talent like (rangoli, solo singing, instrumental music). Sensational events of fest are (Mr. & Ms. Oasis, Fashion show, Choreography). Prize Distribution by JIMS Director. Students are also awarded & rewarded on the basis of their performance. Oasis instils lots of confidence in the students as this showcases their talent & gives them an opportunity to show their management skills because this event is solely managed to organized by the student team.

Alumni - The Institute has a very active Alumni Association, better known as JIMS Elite. The Alumni, who are the ambassadors of the Institute, have established themselves in the corporate world successfully. The Institute maintains regular contact with them. They share their experiences with the next generation, which is being prepared to take the challenges of the business world. The Association meets and participates actively by networking and organizing events to achieve academic and social objectives.
