About Ahmedabad Institute of Technology - AIT

Ahmedabad Institute of Technology (A.I.T.) was created by a Charitable Trust named Ashok Landmark Education Trust in June 2004. The Trust was formed by highly educated and like minded persons who wanted to ensure that Gujarat does not lag behind other states in matter of quality technical education to its youth. The Institute was established with objective to provide quality Technical Education to the youth of Gujarat and to fulfil the aspirations of the students and their parents in today’s knowledge based society. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education to fulfil technical educational needs of the students of Gujarat State. The Institute is located on a large area of about 7 acres. It has gained name for imparting quality technical education in the vicinity of Ahmedabad offering Degree programmes in 4 branches of Engineering viz. Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering wherein branch of Information Technology & Post Graduate Programme in Management were added in 2008. Few more branches of Engineering and M.C.A. programme are proposed to be added to the existing list of Educational Programmes so that it can fulfil the needs and aspirations of the students while the institute becomes the hub of quality technical education in Gujarat.

Facilities

Learning Resource Centre - The Learning Resource Centre known as Library houses more than 20,000 books, 100 periodicals/magazines, 1000 CDs. The entire collection of the centre has been computerized enabling the issue/ return of books to be automated. The students have access to the entire collection through computers attached with CD-ROM facility. The Library also has the facility of Book Bank to cater the requirement of the students in need.

AIT Net Centre - The Central Computing Facility consists of 70 Computer systems with high speed Internet connectivity through Broadband under BSNL. Internet surfing is provided for the students, staff and Library members free of charge.

Transportation - A.I.T. Luxury buses ply daily from different points in this city for daily transportation of students to the campus. However a city transport service is also plying on the Ognaj road.

Laboratories - Various Departments of the Institute provide essential Laboratory facilities to it's students.

Gymkhana - Students Gymkhana Committee prepares action plan for Gymkhana activities, such as sports, indoor games, cultural activities, debating, social service, social gathering etc.

Canteen - The campus has one Canteen located behind the management building. Its used by student as well as the occasional visitor. The Canteen is open from 9.00 A.M. to 9.00 P.M. on all working days including Saturdays. A wide variety of South Indian items, vegetarian items and chinese food as well as some fast food varieties are available. During lunch time Meals (Gujarati Thali) are available at very nominal rates.

Book Store - The Institute has Mahajan Book Store the Campus. It provides various student material like Engineering Books, MBA Books, Xerox machine, Previous Year papers etc.

Training & Placement Cell - The Institute adopts modern practices of Training and Placement of students in industries and world of work. Placement Cells prepare soft copy of placement brochure of Institute and sends the same to identified but selected industries with an invitation for campus placements, by way of  correspondence and meeting in person with executives the industries and interacts with executives of industries for placement of students in industries.

Activities:

The Institute has developed contacts with numerous Agencies, Institutes Organizations and Industrial establishments for the placement of the final year/ semester students for training with a view to offer them benefits like:

• The students are exposed to the real life situations in the field where they have to work in their life. They realise the pros and cons of the same and learn to mould them for the same.

• The students face challenging situations during the training situations and try to adapt themselves for the various works situations.

• The students learn different work cultures and make themselves aware of the real life situations in technical and executive field.

• The Cell has taken as its primary concern the assignment of placing the VIII Semester students in job placements in various Agencies, Institutes, Organizations and Industrial establishments.

CSI - Computer Society of India has 66 chapters all over India, 381 student branches, and more than 40000 members including India's most famous IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians. The Institute is also associated with CSI.
