About Baba Farid College - BFC

Baba Farid College is a part of Baba Farid Group of Institutions. It is managed by Baba Farid Vidyak Society, founded in 1993 under the visionary patronage of prominent and illustrious educationists. The society aims at spreading quality education at affordable fees along with preparing young minds to face the competitive world. It is one of the pioneer Institutes of the Malwa Region affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala. It was established during 2005 and is famed to be the ‘First and the only Privately Managed College affiliated to Punjabi University which offers B.Sc. (Agriculture) 4 year programme, M.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, IT ) along with master degree of English as well as Punjabi’. It is inspired by the spirit of service and sacrifice and as such is named after a Great 12th century Punjabi, Sufi Saint Baba Farid. The management is composed of prominent and committed educationists with some noted NRI’s from U.K, U.S.A., and Canada. The College is spread over a sprawling 50 acres of a beautiful landscape. The state of the art campus is highly equipped and is continuously upgraded with futuristic facilities to enable its students to meet the challenges of the world in the era of globalization. The college is further being developed in a planned and systematic manner.

Location - It is situated 4 Kms. away from municipal limits of Bathinda city on Bathinda – Muktsar Road.

Facilities

Hi Tech Campus - The institute is considered to be the ‘First Institute in Punjab to equip the class-rooms with Digital Smart Boards’. It has classrooms equipped with multi-media to make teaching effective and enhance learning. It is called I-learning, here it refers to Interactive Learning. Smart board classrooms equipped with computers, multimedia and audiovisual aids are used to make teaching- learning process effective. Involvement of students, teachers at all levels of the noble process of imparting education is being ensured. The emphasis is being laid on the activity oriented teaching methodology where learners can enrich themselves by first-hand experience.

Hostel - The college has separate hostels for boys and girls with fully furnished and air cooled rooms. These have attached bathrooms and independent balconies. Other facilities include common rooms well equipped with ultra modern facilities, hygienic mess, 24 hrs. uninterrupted electricity supply, Wi-Fi Internet connectivity, gymnasium, newspapers, magazines, T.V., music system, medical facility, adequate security arrangement etc. The admission to the hostels is done on the first come first serve basis.

Library
- The Library is centrally air conditioned and consists of reading hall, a periodical section and reference section with ample space. It is well stocked and houses numerous books pertaining to the course curriculum, as well as books related to certain general interest areas. It subscribes to a number of newspapers, magazines, and journals of national & International repute in varied areas of knowledge. It also provides internet facility.

Baba Farid Blood Donor’s Squad – It has been formed to provide timely blood supply to the needy within the radius of 50 kms. from the Institute. It also aims to create awareness among the masses regarding this noble cause. It’s volunteers are geared up round the clock to donate blood on demand. The squad provides its services in the towns such as Faridkot, Kotkapura, Muktsar, Malout, Gidderbaha, Dabwali, Mansa, Barnala, Rampura and nearby villages. It also collaborates with other voluntary organisations in providing services in the cities of Amritsar, Ludhiana and Chandigarh. Baba Farid Squad is open to all students, clubs and voluntary organisations to join in this humble effort to serve mankind. Transport  -
To provide quality education to the students belonging to far and near areas, the college has a well planned network of buses that provides transport facility to and from all the neighbouring cities and villages.

Cafeteria - The college has a well maintained cafeteria which is regularly supervised by the members of the staff. The eatables are provided at subsidized rates.

Sports – The college provides various sporting facilities so that promising sportspersons get adequate encouragement & facilities to seek accomplishments at National/International Level. Facilities for cricket, fencing, kabaddi, soft tennis etc.  are provided. There are ample provisions for non sportsperson to keep them healthy. A multi- purpose gymnasium provide the latest world class amenities at the gymnasium. This helps to channelize their youthful energies in positive direction.

Laboratories – The college provided various laboratory facilities.

Some of the Laboratories:

  • Agriculture Laboratories - The agriculture department has 2 well equipped labs with latest equipments, instruments, specimens and chemicals providing facilities for soil and water testing, seed quality testing, diagnosing plant samples for disease and insect attack, etc. to enable students in tackling problems encountered by farmers.
  • Biotechnology Laboratories - These are fully equipped with highly advanced instruments like BOD incubator, Autoclave, Hot air oven, Incubator, Laminar Air Flow etc.
  • Chemistry Laboratories – There are separate laboratories for inorganic, organic and physical chemistry. Instrumentation lab is fully equipped with ultramodern instruments like Ultraviolet spectro photometer, refracto meter, Conductivity Bridge, electronic balances, pH meter etc. Other laboratories are equipped with Distillation sets, furnaces and electronic oven.
  • Physics Laboratory – It is equipped Radiation Chamber, 4 GM Counters and 2 Scintillation Counters.

Career Guidance & Counselling Cell – The Institutions has established a permanent career guidance and counselling cell which makes the students realise their own capabilities and potentialities. The counselling is provided free of cost and the Campus employs its fleet of buses to provide free transportation to the participants during any major career related activity.

NCC - National Cadet Corps units are established to develop qualities of character, courage, team spirit, discipline, leadership, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and the ideals of selfless service among the youth to make them useful citizens. During the parades the cadets are given training in drill, map reading etc. The classes are conducted on topics like Indian History & Geography, Indian Military History, General Knowledge, Leadership and Man-management. Cadets are also given ranks according to their merit and seniority.

NSS - National Service Scheme Units of the Campus aim at arousing social consciousness among youth with an overall objective of personality development through community service. NSS volunteers of the campus organize Blood Donation Campus, Tree Plantations, Cleanliness Drives & seminars to educate people against social evils like Female Foeticide, Dowry, Drug Abuse, AIDS etc.

Social Welfare - Baba Farid Social Welfare Association organises seminars, conducting camps to promote work culture and distributing literature to create awareness among masses. The association has a two tier program First, people are made aware of social evils with the help of literature, seminars and awareness rallies. Second, awareness camps are organized in villages, towns and cities. It develops a sense of dignity of labour and promotes work culture among students besides taking a pledge to save environment and eradicate social evils.

  • Chuspinderbir Singh, a member of Indian Kabaddi Team was winner at Asian Promotional Games held in China.
  • Kuljeet Puri, played for Indian Soft Tennis Team in Asian Soft Tennis Championship held in South Korea.
