About Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology - IBAB

IBAB has been a 'Centre of Excellence for Research and Training in Bioinformatics' of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
The institute is located in a 20 acre campus in Electronics City with excellent infrastructure, students' hostel and other amenities. It has recently added several state of the art facilities to its bioinformatics and biotechnology laboratories to enhance its training and research capabilities. IBAB also hosts GANIT Labs, a multi-institutional public-private partnership under the aegis of Department of Electronics and IT, Government of India, and Department of IT, BT and ST, Government of Karnataka, that works in the area of genome sequencing and data analysis. The institute runs an MSc in 'Bioinformatics & Applied Biotechnology' (recognized, and the degree awarded by the University of Mysore, Mysore) and a Ph.D. program (degree awarded by Manipal University).
IBAB has world class faculty trained from top-notch institutions with significant teaching and research experience. Students are exposed to the most recent advances in academia and industry through the large number of scientists who visit the institute all year around from across the globe. The combination of teaching capacities, exposure to current research, focus on self-learning capacities, personality development and modern facilities have helped IBAB to be among the very few Indian institutes which have achieved a 100% placement record in the lifesciences' sector.
