ISHWAR Institute for Prosthetics and Orthotics (IIPO) is a specialized training institute run by International Society for Human Welfare and Rehabilitation (ISHWAR), a Society duly registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860.The Society is also registered as an NGO under section 52 of PWD Act, 1995.  The Institute is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai and recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India. The Institute commenced its first batch of 4 years Graduate Programme in Prosthetics & Orthotics in September 2012.

Our vision is to undertake world class education, training & development of special skills, research and innovation in Prosthetics & Orthotics so as to promote excellence in patient care services and rehabilitation. To work closely with the rehabilitation organizations and rehabilitation centers the world over to contribute to the field of Prosthetics & Orthotics. We also to strive to achieve excellence in P&O education and research in the Country

Our mission is to be a unique and world class nucleating “Apex Centre of Excellence” in the area of Orthotics & Prosthetics and Allied Sciences for enhancing India’s technological strength and evidence based clinical Practice in Orthotics & Prosthetics and for becoming a pace-setting institution for other similar institutes to be established in future.

Principal’s Message

Education in Prosthetics & Orthotics is now entering in a new era in India with the introduction of Master’s level programmes; these disciplines have become far more academic & research oriented. However, the P&O education in India is still far behind, in achieving core competencies. The new concepts such as Problem Based Learning (PBL) & Outcome Based Education (OBE) etc. are promising.

ISHWAR Institute of Prosthetics & Orthotics (IIPO) aims to bridge this gap and shall help develop the education in P&O discipline using PBL & OBE with a high level of mentorship

The Institute Enjoys Visiting Foreign Clinical Faculty, a good P&O Laboratory, Engineering Drawing Laboratory, Computer Laboratory, Audio-visual Classrooms & Seminar Hall

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Eligibility Qualification: 10+2 with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Botany & Zoology or Mathematics (PCB or PCM) with minimum of 40% marks in each subject for all categories. The Candidates should have passed in all subjects of the qualifying examination of Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board or any other equivalent examination.

The Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination with PCB/PCM subjects OR awaiting results of 10+2 can also apply However their admission shall be subject to fulfilling the passing norms.

Age Limit:- A candidate should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or would complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the B.P.O. degree courses.

METHOD OF SELECTION & COUNSELLING/ADMISSION

Selection is based on Merit. Shortlisted candidates undergo a preliminary written test and interview at the time of counseling

SCHOLARSHIP

The Eligible SC/ST, OBC, PwD students should submit their scholarship form for the academic year 2013-14 by February 2014 for processing the UGC / affiliating  university  scholarship in respect of  SC/ST, OBC ,PwD students each year as per applicable norms
