About Civil Aviation Training College - CATC

The Civil Aviation Training College (CATC), Allahabad is a training establishment of Airports Authority of India (AAI). This is the only institute of its kind in India. It meets training requirement in the field of ATM and CNS Maintenance & Operations, as per ICAO standards.

CATC is located at Bamrauli, Allahabad. Situated at a distance of approx. 10 Kms. west of Allahabad Railway Station, on the Grant Trunk Road, it is close to Bamrauli Aerodrome, Allahabad.

The CATC has existed ever since 1948 (under the then Civil Aviation Department, Govt. of India).

CATC is a modernized training establishment in terms of Infrastructure, training facilities, laboratories and simulators.

The institutional building with 33026 SQMs of covered space along with hostels and residential buildings are spread over 106 acres (43 hectare).

The Institute

The CATC is the residential college with well- furnished hostel, adjoining cafeteria, recreation and sports facilities, club, hospital and bank.

The college has fully air-conditioned well planned 19 classrooms equipped with modern audio visual aids, overhead projectors, TV, VCR, multimedia projection etc.

Training Facilities

For imparting 'hands-on' training in the CNS field, the college has laboratories besides having a separate Nav-Aid Block, which houses NDB, CVOR, DVOR, DME and ILS with their real time antenna systems.

For ATC training there are modern Simulators and Laboratories.

Auditorium / Seminar hall

An auditorium with 400 seating capacity and a seminar hall with 100 seating capacity is also provided for any big gathering incidental to the training activity, conferences or in-house academic and cultural activities.

Library

The institute has a well-equipped Library with about 14,000 books, journals and ICAO Documents in the field of Civil Aviation, Meteorology, Science & Technology, Management and other subjects of general interest.

Hostel

Has centrally cooled double/single bedrooms with total capacity of 348. Well layer out reading rooms/TV room/TT, Carom, chess etc/Gym. STD/ISD facility is provided at a common location in the hostel. Some rooms have been specially furnished for foreign students with TV/Fridge/AC etc. and are available for nominal rates of US$30 per day trainee, which includes morning tea/breakfast/lunch and dinner. Additional catering is available for extra payment

 Cafeteria provided with two large dining halls and kitchen with modern cooking/serving equipment and Refrigerators.

Swimming Pool

A 50-meter size swimming pool with appropriate diving boards is also available.

Hospital

The institute has a hospital with two single bed and two double bed wards / pathological lab/minor operation theatre equipped with facilities for treatment of outdoor/indoor patients by qualified and experienced doctors and nurses.

Access to CATC

About 10 Km from Railway station/city easily accessible by taxi / three wheelers / bus service from Railway Station and Bus terminus

Administrative Office

The institute functions five days a week from Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 17:30 hrs.

Training Programmes

The annual training program is finalized in consultation with AAI corporate office. It is possible to accommodate additional slots for training in case of specific requests from non-AAI agencies including requests for training from foreign countries.

The courses are of different duration, ranging from 1 week to 50 weeks, depending upon the course objectives and the course design. Both for CNS and ATM disciplines the courses are grouped in three categories mentioned below:

  • Ab-Initio Level Courses
  • Refresher-cum-Career progression Courses
  • Specialist Courses
