Established in 1967, A M Shaikh Homoeopathic Medical College in Belgaum is managed by the People's Education Society and Trust. The college is an important center for medical education and clinical training in the Homoeopathic System of Medicine. It offers Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), Post-Graduate in Homoeopathy and Certificate course in Nursing.

The campus is located in the breathtakingly picturesque and cool climes of Belgaum. Shaikh Medical College is the brainchild of Dr. A. M. Shaikh who was an IAS officer of Karnataka cadre and had headed many a government department between 40s and 60s. He was fascinated with alternative system of medicine and devoted nearly 30 years of his post-retirement life to promote the system and the college for which he sacrificed his hard-earned money. As a minority institution, one-third of it's intake is from among Muslims.

The Shaikh Homeopathic Medical College teaches all that an MBBS student learns with Homeopathic medicinal system and has the state-of-the-art 125-bed Hospital with diagnostic and surgical facilities for radiology, physiotherapy, endoscopy, ophthalmology, dentistry etc. The major difference occurs in pharmacology where the homeopathy makes a drastic deviation from the very concept of therapy. At least ten allopaths with MBBS suffixed with their names can be seen among the faculty members.

Location - Spread over an area of 6 acres on the northern end of the Pune - Bangalore road, the hospital can be easily accessed by road.

Facilities

Hostel - Separate hostel facility is available for boys and girls.

Hospital - The hospital has 125 beds and competent staff providing the finest medical facility to the patients. Specialized treatments are offered in ophthalmology, dentistry, ENT, ANC, obstetrics, gynecology and pediatric departments. Most modern facilities such as USG, radiology, endoscopy, ECG, physiotherapy and ICCU are available.

Green House - A green house or a garden for medicinal herbs in the campus is an important part of the college.

Library - It contains over 14,000 books

Education for Foreign Students - No Objection Certifcate required from Ministry Of External Affairs, INDIA along with Eligibilty Certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University for Health Sciences.
