About National Institute of Technology - NIT Delhi

National Institute of Technology Delhi (NITD) is one of the thirty NIT’s established in the year 2010 by an act of parliament and has been declared as an Institute of National importance. NIT Delhi is an autonomous Institute which functions under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It aims to provide instructions and research facilities in various disciplines of Engineering, Science and Technology, Management, Social Sciences and Humanities for advance learning and dissemination of knowledge. The mission of NIT Delhi is to produce human resource those who are creative, competitive and innovative with high intellect and ethical values. The Institute is imparting holistic education, along with inculcating high moral values in its students.

NIT Delhi started its academic session in 2010 with three undergraduate B. Tech degree programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The academic activities of NIT Delhi were initiated at NIT Warangal in year 2010 which later moved to a temporary campus at Dwarka, New Delhi in June 2012 and now currently running at IAMR Campus, Narela (February 2014). Possession of fifty one acre land has been allotted for permanent campus of NIT Delhi on NH-1, Narela sub city, New Delhi. The process of developing the permanent campus has begun. Though at present, NITD is running temporarily at IAMR Campus, Narela, but it has been allocated land for permanent campus on NH-1, Narela sub city, New Delhi

The National Institute of Technology, Delhi uses a multiplication factor of 9.5 to convert CGPA to equivalent Percentage of Marks. For example CGPA 7.5 is equal to 71.25% marks

NITD Facilities

Hostels - NIT Delhi provides well-furnished hostel facility to its outstation candidates. The boy’s hostels are located in the main campus of the Institute in Narela, while the girl’s hotel is located at Rohini, Delhi. Boarding facility has been extended to almost 150 students at hostels (both boys and girls) and adequate bus facility has also been extended for commutation of students staying at YWCA Girls Hostel, Rohini as well as for day scholars.

Computer Centre – Apart from the conventional facilities, the centre maintains and manages WiFi facility through rack mounted blade servers in the campus having High speed (single mode) fiber backbone, managed by Layer 4 Switches providing 275 Mbps (1:1) bandwidth Speed. These networking facilities are also extended to Hostel and Residential areas.

Library - It is housed on the first floor of the building and is situated in the midst of all departments and hostels which makes it easily accessible to all/everyone in the campus. The total carpet area of Library is 500 sq. feet. Library consultation facilities are also available to faculty and students of outside Institutes / Organization on request. The Library Collection consists of about 10,000 Text Books, 500 CD ROM’s, 1000 Electronic Journals, 4 Electronic Databases, subscription to 20 Magazines Titles and 10 Newspapers.

Sports - The institute has a well equipped sports department with arrangements for several indoor and outdoor games. Indoor games include Badminton, Table-Tennis, Carom and Chess and outdoor games include cricket, football and cricket. There are well maintained grounds for football and volley ball along with a groomed cricket pitch and separate basketball court for students.

Classrooms - The classrooms at NIT Delhi are well structured equipped with electric projector screens apart from the basic necessities of a classroom. There are nine classrooms equipped with Multimedia Projectors

Laboratories - The laboratories provide controlled conditions for conducting research, experiments and measurements.

The Institute is equipped various laboratories, some of these are:

  • Electronic Design and Automation Laboratory
  • Integrated Electronics and Communication Laboratory
  • Physics Laboratory

  • Narela to Jahangir Puri
  • Narela to Rohini (YWCA Girls Hostel)

Training and Placement Cell – It centrally handles all aspects of campus placements for the graduating students of all Departments. T and P Cell is well equipped with excellent infrastructure to support each and every stage of the placement process. T & P staff members assist in arranging Pre-Placement Talks, Written Tests, Group Discussions, and Interviews etc. as per the requirements of the Organizations. The cell also facilitates the opportunities to avail various industrial visits during the academic sessions in renowned organizations.
