About Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram - DVK

Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (DVK) is a Pontifical Athenaeum for higher learning and formation, established by the Congregation for Catholic Education, Vatican, as an independent institute, empowered to grant degrees, including Licentiate and Doctorate in Philosophy and Theology, Licentiate in Oriental Canon Law, Licentiate and Master’s in Formative Spirituality and Counseling.

Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram is a Registered Society under the Karnataka Societies of Registration Act 1960 (Karnataka Act No. 17 of 1960) as S. No. 13/84-85, of Bangalore City Corporation.

Central Library

Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram Central Library, providing unique services in ecclesiastical learning, is a key academic centre on the campus.

Important Functions and Features

Book Library:- There are around 1,00,000 volumes of books in this library. The important components of the book library are: Reference Library, Lending Book Library, Thesis Library, Text Book Library, Reserved Books, Professors’ Library, and Rare Books Library. 

Periodicals Library:- At present we have around 23,000 bound volumes and around 500 current titles. The important sections of the Periodical Library are: Current Periodicals Section, Back Issue Section, and Bound Volume Section.

Digital Library:- It is a modern concept. Here students explore information from the digital world. In this regard library prepares the new students with a course “Equip Yourself with the Digital World.” The important components are CDRom, Data Bank, Internet Facility, Web Portal, EJournals, EBooks, and Electronic Work Stations.

Search Centre:- This is a spacious counter meant for electronic search. The users can enjoy different types of search facilities like OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), and Bibliographic Search.

Multi-media Centre, Programme Corner and Conference cum Video Room:- These areas are well-equipped for short-duration programmes like Classes with multimedia presentations, Seminars, Thesis Defence, “Meet the Author” Programme, special training programmes, workshops, conference, videoconference, video watching and different types of academic discussions and other academic events.

Property Counter:- The Library will not allow any baggage, books, files and other personal things, except a limited number of blank papers, into the restricted area (through the Access Control Door). At the same time, the library facilitates a well-arranged property counter for keeping personal property.

New Arrivals Display:- The newly accessed books, CDs, stamps, coins will be displayed in the beautifully arranged new shelves in the entrance area.
