Guwahati College of Design (GCD) aims to provide its students with all the needful facilities and a campus, which is amidst the beautiful region of Assam, allowing them to grow and harness their skills. GCD shall make a career in Design, attainable by providing the necessary platform to foster the upcoming talent of this region.

Our Mission:

To train the students to become quality designers with positive attitude and perfect blend of technical and aesthetic skills. To produce designers with flavors for sustainable designs is the mission of the Institute, with a global perspective of design.

Facilities:

GCD aims to provide all facilities to its students that will, in turn, help them excel!

The total construction area of the first phase of GCD's new campus is around 1,00,000 sq. ft. The main building covers approximately 52,000 sq. ft. area. The ground floor has an entrance lobby, the administrative departments, faculty departments, library, seminar hall, etc. On the first floor we have studios and classrooms. On the second floor there are different activity rooms as well as the auditorium, which has a capacity of 550 people. This covers the entire course requirement within this building.

The campus is well equipped to handle power cuts, and is Wi-Fi enabled.

Classrooms:

GCD has taken teaching a step forward from the conventional black board teaching. The classrooms at GCD are furnished with audio visual digital media. Starting from the second year of the course, students are provided with digital drawing studios, keeping GCD at par with any National level Institute.

Library:

The college library is well-equipped, with text books, reference books, journals and latest magazines relevant to design and other fields such as Scientology, Biographies, General Knowledge, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Design, Interiors, and Fashion amongst others.

The library subscribes to a number of well-known national and international journals, and magazines every year. It is equipped with Internet facility.

Qualified librarians manage the library. They use e-granthalaya for effective library management.

Students also get access to the scanner and OPAC facilities.

Workshop:

GCD believes in giving firsthand experience to its students. A workshop on carpentry and model making is compulsory for all students in Interior Design Course and on textile creation and fashion events in Fashion and Textile Course.

Computer Laboratory:

The computer lab is well equipped offering the latest soft wares required in the Design Domain. Internet Access is possible on all computers through Wi-Fi connectivity. The lab also has a dedicated area for students who choose to use their laptops.

Sports:

With the focus on overall development of each and every student, GCD provides its students with facilities for various indoor and outdoor activities. Indoor games include table tennis, carom, chess, etc. While outdoor games include football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, etc.

Each year, the college organizes a Sports Week where students participate enthusiastically in various indoor and outdoor games. An awards function follows where eminent personalities grace the winners with their respective awards.

Admission Procedure:

Eligible candidates shall have to apply to the Guwahati College of Design, in the prescribed format only, along with all Certificates/ Testimonials supporting their application for admission.

Fees:

Fee Structure for B.Sc. in Fashion & Textile Design

The College shall have fee structure for each semester as under:

Tuition Fee: 25,000/-
Library Fee: 5,000/-
Computer Centre Fee: 3,000/-
Activity Fee: 2,640/-
Total Fee Per Semester: 35,640/-

During Admission:

Registration/ Processing Fee: 25,000/-
One time Admission Fee: 3,000/-
Caution Money Deposit (refundable): 5,000/-
Prospectus/ Form: 500/-

University fee and Examination fee as per University norms shall be paid separately.
