About Chefs Institute of Hotel Management

The Chefs Institute of Hotel Management and Culinary Arts, is a pioneer in the field of Hospitality Management education in Kerala. It has been in existence for the past fifteen years and has contributed to the pool of Hospitality Management professionals in India as well as abroad.

CIHMCA is enriched because of the experience, exposure and expertise of its faculty and management. Most notably, CIHMCA has been recognized as study centre of top universities at the national level, is initiating various steps regularly to improve the quality of education and the method of imparting education on par with any foreign university. The campus houses state-of-the-art infrastructure to deliver the best theoretical and practical education, as well as to provide a high quality of life on campus. It integrates elements such as innovation, team building, leadership, and personality development and communication skills with elements such as exceptional education, devoted faculty members, and excellent resources.

Mr. T.M. Francis, the Director of this institution is a veteran in hotel industry. He had been in the hotel industry for more than thirty years abroad. During this period he worked in different five star hotels like Hilton international, Nihal international and Sheraton hotels, in the capacity of F & B Services Personal clerk, Assistant Personal manager, Public Relation officer, and Human resources Manager. He too had an experience in Managing own hotel and cultural school for more than twenty years in the United Arab Emirates.

Mr. P.K. Suresh Kumar, the Principal of this institution has 20 years experience in Five Star hotels and Carnival Cruise Line as executive chef. He was also been a trainer in the Food production field abroad.

Our mission as an institution is to provide world-class education in hospitality industry, foster research and development, evolve innovative applications, encourage entrepreneurship and ultimately mould young men and women capable of assuming leadership of the society for the betterment of the country.

Admission Procedure:

The minimum qualification for admission is a pass in the examination of 10+2 system in the Senior Secondary education or its equivalent, with English as one of the compulsory subjects. Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examinations can also appear on a provisional basis.

Age limit:

For candidates from General and OBC categories, the upper age limit is 22 years. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, the upper age limit is 25 years.

JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) Jain (Deemed-to-be University) has been ranked No.5 among the top private universities of India (India Today - Nielson Best Universities Survey, 2015). To promote entrepreneurship amongst the students, the university has set up "Chenraj Roychand Center for Entrepreneurship" that brings together academicians, student entrepreneurs and incubated companies for the study and practice of entrepreneurship. Today, the center has 40 incubated business ventures. Jain (Deemed-to-be University) has the highest placement record and around 90% of the students are placed in reputed companies. It imparts a set of Skill Development activities thorough its structured plan and aims at developing skills for tomorrow The operation includes the various Skill Development Projects, Professional and Vocational Education Activities, Professional and Corporate Training, Consulting, Research & Development and other Learning Solutions.

National Skill Development Corporation NSDC was set up as a part of the National Skill Development Mission to fulfill the growing demands in India for skilled manpower across sectors; and to narrow the existing gap between the demand and supply of skills. The Union Finance Minister Shri. P Chidambaram announced the formation of the NSDC in his 2008-09 Budget Speech. He stated, "There is a compelling need to launch a world-class skill development programme in mission-mode that will address a challenge of imparting the skills required by a growing economy. Both the structure and the leadership of the mission must be such that the programme can be scaled-up quickly to cover the whole country”.
