New Delhi: DU has decided to phase out the re-evaluation and rechecking of answer sheets in the next academic session with the introduction of semester system across all batches.

Despite a hike in re-evaluation and re-checking charges by DU, the system may altogether be abandoned as soon as the semester system is introduced across all three years.

Karen Gabriel, professor of English, St. Stephens' College said that a system of re-evaluation is important because sometimes teachers who correct papers don't teach those subjects or there are ad-hoc teachers who correct papers. It is extremely unfair on part of the Delhi University to remove both re-evaluation and rechecking because it is detrimental to students There are ample room for human and machine errors to crop in, said Gabriel.

The varsity on the other hand has refused to comment on the system change, saying that it is still being reviewed by the administration. However, it has further said that changes to streamline better the new semester system are being worked on.

RC Sharma, Dean of examinations said that they need a full proof system wherein the need for re-evaluation will not arise at all.
