The schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will soon come under the purview of an accreditation system being formulated by 12 agencies, CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said. He was attending the principals' meet of the CBSE affiliated schools (Bihar/Jharkhand) on Loyola High School campus on Sunday.

Altogether 12 agencies were currently doing a pilot study on how to implement the certification system. "The proposed accreditation would not only enhance the reputation of the schools, but also help parents decide about good schools not just on hearsay but on the basis of an objective evaluation by the third party in a transparent manner," said Joshi.

With the CCE (continuous comprehensive evaluation) now in force, Joshi advised schools to change their teaching pattern. While CCE aims at the holistic development of children, the chairman said students sometimes complain that only two persons work in a group but all are given the same marks.
