The state school education department took a step forward to provide extra opportunity to the students with special needs by formulating a new policy. For the first time, the students with special needs would be given 45 additional minutes for writing the (three-hour) paper in all school examinations as well as Madhyamik and Higher Secondary board examinations.

The department has also asked the primary, secondary and higher secondary boards to inform the schools affiliated to them and send an action taken report by January 18.

The new policy will also allow these students to write shorter replies to questions requiring a lot of writing.
