As per the new guidelines, students who fail to clear the intermediate annual examinations in the first attempt will no more be eligible for the first phase of engineering and medical admissions, even though they secure top ranks in EAMCET.
Those who fail and take the advanced supplementary examinations to clear the backlogs will have to try for the leftover seats in the second phase of counselling.
The decision was taken by the authorities in view of the AICTE fixing deadline for releasing the entrance exam results and the admissions.
According to the AICTE deadline, entrance test results have to be released before 5 June 2013 and it is imperative that the first round of the counselling is completed before 30 June 2013 and the final phase by 20 July 2013 . Also, the list of admitted students has to be uploaded on AICTE website 30 July 2013. As per the new norm, the 2013 academic year must begin on 1 August 2013.
So far the government was announcing the EAMCET ranks taking the advanced supplementary results into consideration, which were released in June end or July first week.
However, it must be noted that EAMCET ranks cannot be announced independently as the weight age of twenty five percent of the intermediate marks is considered for calculating the final rank.
