The Karnataka State Government decided to do away with the PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) for the Management programs admissions starting the year 2013.
From now on, only the CMAT scores will be considered for admissions in post graduate MBA management programs in all the AICTE approved institutions and Universities for the session 2013-14.
It is already known that CMAT or the Common Management Aptitude Test is the only way to get through AICTE MBA colleges.
All the aspiring candidates will now have to register for the CMAT entrance exam . The AICTE will conduct the CMAT exam twice in a year, where candidates could register both the times.
At present, the AICTE is conducting the CMAT in three centers in Karnataka, that are Bangalore, Mysore and Gulbarga. So far, the PGCET was conducted by the Visvesvayara Technological University and the seat allotment process and counseling was meted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).
As of now, the states that have already decided to make CMAT as their official examination are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Haryana and Karnataka.
