Aklia Polytechnic College

Aklia Polytechnic College is a private technical institute catering to education in different fields of engineering viz. civil, computer, electronics and communication, information technology and mechanical. It has become the Examination Centre for all Years from Session 2010-11 onwards. The polytechnic is affiliated to the Punjab State Board of Technical Education, Industrial Training – Chandigarh. It is approved by All India Council of Technical Education - New Delhi and the Government of Punjab. The College has been established to meet the requirement for affordable, accessible, high quality and standardized technical education. Aklia Polytechnic College – Bathinda has been established by Aklia Education and Research Society in the year 2008 under the Societies Act. The society which was established in 2003 has been active in the field of education and has set up other institutes which have been mentioned below.

Admission Process

Diploma

A candidate will be eligible for admission to polytechnic, if he /she fulfils the following qualification:

• He / She has passed the 10th or its equivalent examination conducted by a recognized Board with Math, Science and English
• All those candidates who have passed JET, can get admission through counselling
• And the candidate is otherwise eligible for admission under Management Quota Seats

Direct admission in Diploma 2nd year

• A candidate who has passed an ITI course of at least one year duration or 10+2 vocational examination in various branches from any institution of Punjab / Other State

Online Admission

• Online admission to all courses will be made in accordance with instructions issued by Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training from time to time. The college offers free online counselling facility to the candidates at the campus.
  
  

Programme Structure

• The course structure is spread over 6 terms
• Odd semester from August to December
• Even Semester from January to May

Summer Training

• At the end of the 3rd year, the students are required to undergo training in the industry for a period of about 6 months. This gives them an opportunity to learn through practical experiences. 
• Each student is assigned a faculty guide who supervises the project undertaken by the student. At the end of the training period, students are required to submit a written project report, which is evaluated by a panel of experts. This is a compulsory component of curriculum and is designed to provide students an exposure to develop an understanding of ground realities.

Location – It is located on the Bathinda-Goniana-Jaito National Highway Road.  It is about 15 kms. from Bathinda and 2 kms. from Goniana towards Jaito.

The nearest railway station is about 2 kms.

Facilities

Hostel – The institute offers basic hostel facilities.

Lecture Halls - These have been specially designed to make the teaching-learning process more effective with the help of O.H.P., LCD and slide projectors.

Library - The institute has a fully computerized library. The students have been issued digital cards for fast processing of library work. All the information regarding the student and the books is stored in these cards. This information is also made available on the PC’s. The library subscribes around 12 journals and magazines. The library is equipped with internet which enhances learning.

Computer Centre - All the computers in the centre are connected via a local area network (LAN). The centre also acts as a computer laboratory wherein practical application of theory is applied. It also offers internet facility for study and research purposes.

Internet Facility - The polytechnic offers 24 hrs. internet facilities to all the students. The facility can be accessed through Wi-Fi or a cable.

Workshops – To provide practical training to the students the college has a number of spacious workshops fully equipped with latest ultra modern equipments.

Industrial Visits – To better understand the concepts of engineering and gain experience regular industrial visits are conducted.

Seminars and Conferences – These are organised to update the knowledge of the students and teachers.
