  • Dietician and Nutritionist are names that are used interchangeably, however, their educational requirements and work functions differ.
  • Nutritionists are specialists who advise people on the types and amounts of food they should consume in order to gain or lose weight.
  • Dietitians, on the other hand, are the professionals who advise medical patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities on the proper nutritional intake; for example, a person recovering from an accident would have different dietary requirements than one suffering from cancer. They have received dietary training for a variety of populations, particularly clinical patients.
  • Nutritionists can be Dieticians, but Dieticians cannot be Nutritionists.
