What are the many kinds of technical writing?

Historically, STEM areas such as engineering, physics, chemistry, computer science, and information technology were the only ones that needed technical writing.

Today, it is also required in a variety of corporate disciplines, including finance and accounting. This means that there are many kinds of technical writing.

Aside from the basic standards of technical communication, there are no hard and fast guidelines for writing technical documentation.

As previously said, it all depends on the people for whom it is intended (their ability to absorb technical knowledge and credentials) and the individuals/organizations generating it.

Every firm, however, has a style guide in place to maintain uniformity across all technical publications produced.
