Answer: Under act 1956 section 3 of UGC Central Government can declared any good institute as a deemed university.Till late eightees institutes like BITS Pillani,Indian School of Mines, Gurukul Kangdi, Dayalbag and Jamia Hamdard etc were given this status.Till date this number has rose to 83 from 38 in 1996.
