Australian Giant Cuttlefish a.k.a. Sepia apama is the world's largest cuttlefish species. It grows to 50 cm in mantle length and weighs over 10.5 kg (23 lb). It is found in southern coast of Australia, its homeland stretching from Brisbane to Shark Bay in Western Australia. Its ideal habitat is rocky reefs, seagrass beds, sea sand and mud seafloor at a depth of 100 m. Its lifespan ranges from two to three years.
