'The Third known Periodic Comet to be discovered was Biela's Comet. It was first recorded in 1772 by Charles Messier. It was identified as Periodic Comet in 1826 by Wilhelm von Biela. Just like Encke's Comet, it was also named after after the astronomer who calculated it's orbits rather than it's discoverer. It's official name is 3D/Biela.
