‘Aristotle’ is widely considered as the ‘Founder of Meteorology’. According to him all substances were compounds of four elements: - earth, wind, fire and water and opined that these were arranged in separate layers, but could mingle. Aristotle also believed that heat could cause water to evaporate. However, it was the ‘Hydrologic Cycle’ which is considered to be the most aspect he observed. He wrote all his observations in a book titled – ‘Meteorological’ during 340 B.C. It was the ‘First Major Study of the Atmosphere’. Not all ideas of his were correct but other ideas related to rain, hailstorms and other kinds of weather were accurate.
