During the Devonian Period (416 to 359.2 million years ago) the first Fish evolved legs and started to walk on land. This fish was the Sarcopterygian Fish with lungs and bony-limbed fins. The innovation of limbs enabled early Amphibians and their descendants to support their body on land and to move more freely in terrestrial habitats.
