There are many reasons as to why dogs chase cars and other moving things like bikes, skateboards etc. These reasons are:
- It is an instinctive reaction, dogs have evolved from wolves and chasing is an instinct that has been passed to dogs
- Some dogs have a strong prey drive and when they see cars in motion, it triggers their drive.
- Some dogs do not get enough exercise and opportunity to chase other dogs so they tend to chase
- Some dogs are very territorial and the moment they see an unfamiliar moving object they chase it
- Dogs generally spray their urine on cars and other vehicles and whenever such vehicles enter another locality the dogs consider it as an intruder.
