Chitkara University is a private university providing innovative undergraduate and post-graduate education that contributes to the development of society and the individuals. Chitkara University has been enacted by the Himachal Pradesh State Legislature under the "Chitkara University Act". Chitkara University is a government recognized University with the right to confer degrees as per the sections 2f and 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956. Chitkara University recognises that world class campus infrastructure is an integral part of the institutional, organisational and service mission of the institution. The university campus is designed to enhance teaching-learning processes.

Chitkara Educational Trust based out of Chandigarh, was founded by Dr. Ashok Chitkara and Dr.Madhu Chitkara in the year 1998 and has since then tremendously grown to attain leadership position in North India which speaks volumes about our enduring commitment, outstanding faculty and a rich learning environment. The University is funded by Chitkara Educational Trust. Chitkara education brings with it a reputation that we have earned through years of serving the career needs of the student community. It is a reputation for excellence and innovation among coveted employers for preparing graduates who have the knowledge and skills they need for success in the workplace.

Location - Chitkara University is located on 13 acres of campus at Himuda Education Hub in Barotiwala, District Solan, Himachal Pradesh.

Transportation - The campus is 32 kms from Chandigarh and approx. 8 kms from Kalka Railway Station. Chandigarh is conveniently linked to the rest of the country by air, road and rail network.

How to Reach Chandigarh by Air
Chandigarh has an airport just 11kms away from the City Centre. Major airlines connect the city with other major cities like Mumbai & Delhi.

How to Reach Chandigarh by Road
The city boast's of an excellent road-network. It is also conveniently located within driving distance from a number of major cities of North India. National Highways 21 and 22 run through the city. Near perfect road conditions and breathtaking view on either side of the road offers a pleasant drive. It is approx. 250 kms North of Delhi & it takes almost 5 hrs to cover the journey.

How to Reach Chandigarh by Rail
The rail network serves the city conveniently. Chandigarh Railway Station is about 8kms from the City Centre in Sector 17. Important trains like the Shatabdi Express and the Himalayan Queen provide two train connections every day between Chandigarh and Delhi.

Facilities

Hostels - University campus provides comfortable hostel facilities separately for boys and girls. Solar water heaters, water coolers and water purifiers are provided in all the hostels. All rooms in the hostels have Internet connections. The pollution-free environment adds to the healthy living conditions on the campus.

Library - The Library is housed in three floored building. First one is spacious reading room, second floor is devoted to Engineering and technology and third floor is for Management studies. Library's resources and services are fully automated using KOHA: Integrated Library Systems. Presently Library is having more than 8000 documents and subscribing more than 100 periodicals. It is centrally air-conditioned and 200 readers can sit at one time. Library is also having E-resources like IEEE and Delnet database services. Wi- Fi Access - The entire University campus including Academic Blocks and library are fully Wi-Fi promoting anywhere everywhere learning. Chitkara University has one of the most technologically advanced University campuses in the country and is inter-connected which brings the network to every desk, with a second layer of Wireless Networking enabling connections anywhere. Over 1000 computers on-campus are connected to the internet through broadband connections with the network of over 20 high end servers that power the on-campus network.

Campus ERP - Chitkara University provides the most advanced online Student Information System for complete transparency and hassle free campus management.

Medical Centre - 24 hours medical centre has been setup to provide quality primary health care and health-related education, counseling and outreach in support of optimal health and well being.

Transport Facility - Transport facility is provided to students from their residence to the institute and back. For this University has its own fleet of new buses which ply on pre-decided routes from Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula, Manimajra, Zirakpur, Pinjore and Kalka.

Bank - For the benefit of students and staff members, an extension counter and 24 hour ATM of UCO Bank will be provided on the University Campus.

Student Services - Chitkara University offers Student Services that complement the university experience and promote links with broader community. These include Counselling & Psychological Services.

Sports Facilities - Playgrounds for basketball, Volleyball, badminton and tennis will be available in the campus. Indoor games facilities have also been created which include table tennis and other board games. A full- fledged gymnasium facility is planned and likely to come up shortly.
