Islamic University of Science & Technology is a public university located at Awantipora, Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. It has been set up as a centre for higher learning for the people of the Jammu and Kashmir State and its neighbouring regions. Islamic University of Science and Technology is recognised by the UGC and AICTE and is a member of AIU.
The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) had been established by an Act No. XVIII of 2005 dated on 7th November 2005. It was passed by J&K State Legislature and notified by the State Government, through Jammu & Kashmir Government Gazette dated: 11-11-2005. The functioning of university was started in November, 2005 and the teaching programme was started in July 2006.

Library Facilities - The University provides good library facilities such as SOUL 2.0 software for automation of its operations and services, adequate, responsive and balanced collection of general, text and reference print materials, online access to a growing collection of e-books covering subjects taught at the university, journals, magazines and newspapers, DELNET membership, and the like many others.
Hostel Facilities - Currently, there are two hostels, one each for boys and girls in close vicinity of the campus. These hostels are provided 24x7 power backup and suitable environment for studying, with neat and clean mess facility.
IT Service Facilities - The University has joined the National Knowledge Network under MHRD Government India sponsored scheme. It is connected with the rest of country through a high speed net line. Students and teachers are also provided lectures from renowned teachers from IIT’s and IIM’s who deliver online lectures weekly which are of immense beneficial.
Financial Aid Facilities - The University has constituted a University Financial Aid Programme (UFAP) so as to help students who are economically weak.
Anti-ragging Squad - The University strictly prohibited ragging incidents in its premises. Any student involved in the act shall be immediately suspended. The student found guilty will be dealt with as per the Supreme Court ruling and UGC guidelines. The University has anti-ragging squads to ensure a ragging free campus.
Canteen - There is an open canteen is available to all students and staff during the day. The canteen serves beverages, snacks and meals at University approved rates.
Sports’ Facilities - The University has Directorate of Physical Education which is functioning since September 2009. The University provides facilities and opportunities to the students for development of personality and leadership qualities through various sports and extracurricular activities. Students have been actively involved in football, cricket, volleyball, basketball and trekking and other sporting events at State as well as National level especially those organised by Association of Indian Universities.
Bus Facilities - The University has sufficient buses which transport students and staff to and from campus on daily basis. Students may avail private and government transport that constantly and frequently plies between Awantipora and other towns and Srinagar from early morning to late evening.
Medical Facilities - The University has a campus dispensary with a Medical Consultant and other supporting staff attending the students and staff. And it is well equipped to take care of minor health ailments.
Banking Facilities - The campus has adequate banking facility through an Extension of J&K Bank Awantipora, a branch with an ATM.
Radio Studio - The University has established a fully equipped radio studio with support from Panos South-Asia with audio recording and editing facilities, as well as video recording and editing. A community radio programme ‘Peshkadam’ is produced in the studio by a group comprising of students and people from local community.
