About Central University of Kashmir

The Central University of Kashmir (formerly known as Central University of Jammu & Kashmir) was established in 2009 under the Central Universities Act, 2009. The University is operational from a transit campus at Sonwar, Srinagar. The University has successfuly launched Masters Degree Programmes in English, Information Technology & Management Studies from The academic session 2009. The University is offering three more Master's Degree Programmes and one integrated B.A,LLB Programme. The permanent campus site of the University approved and the land of more then 500, acres in the process of transfer to the University, the focus of attention in the years ahead would be planning and development of permanent campus of our University.

Location - Sonwar Bus Stop, 10m (Near G.B.Pant Hospital)

Transportation - The Transit Campus of the University National Highway at a distance of 300, km from Jammu. Regular Bus and Taxi service is available from New Delhi The railway link of Northern India terminates at Udhampur, Jammu located at a distance of 233 kilometers from the Srinagar city

Facilities

Hostel - The Central University of Kashmir has set-up a hostel at its Transit Campus, Sonawar. The university hostel is set-up in a three storeyed structure that is aesthetically laid out with plenty of open space and a lush green lawn in its front. The hostel has well equipped Mess, Kitchen

Library - The Central University of Kashmir has setup a library at transit campus Srinagar to provide the access to the faculty members, Student, research scholars and the staff of the University. In a very short span of time, The Library has procured more than 2000, taxt & reference books on Management, Information Technology, English Literature, Economics Law, Mathematics, General books etc. The Library has also procures books various Competitive examination at national and international level. The Library is subscribes to numerous e-journals and few electronic database under the UGC-INEONET Digital Library Consortium of INEONET.

Browsing - The Browsing Centre has been established with a view to facilitate, faster and support the essential teaching and research goals of the university by making available computing and internet service to the university faculty, staff and students.

Medical - The University has initiated the process to hire the service of a physician who would visit the campus twice a week to give free medical consultation to the student.

Dinning Hall - Safe drinking water is available by means of aquagurad and water purifiers installed in the mess and dining hall of the hostel

Transport - The transport is made available to the students at a subsidized rate.

Training & Placement Cell - The Training & Placement Cell of the University aims at making available quality placement opportunities for students and at maintaining linkages with Industry and Research Organizations.

Scholarships - The University has instituted Merit Scholarships to be awarded to two meritorious students of every semester of various PG Programmes for second semester onwards, the Scholarship shall be awarded to two students from each department for the First Semester, Scholarships will be awarded to two students from each Department who have secured Highest Entrance Score in their respective Department.
