Practical Classes

In Paper M 302, each student will have 2 hours of Practicals per week. Practical classes will be conducted in batches of approximately 10 students. Duration of the practical examination for each student is 2 hours. The candidate taking examination for paper M 302 should take both theory and practicals together for the purpose of computation of the result. The theory marks obtained in one examination and practical marks obtained in another examination will not be added together for computation of result. Minimum of passing in theory and practical shall be as per university regulation.

Practical Classes

In Paper M 402, each student will have 2 hours of Practicals per week. Practical classes will be conducted in batches of approximately 10 students. Duration of the practical examination for each student is 2 hours. The candidate taking examination for paper M 402 should take both theory and practicals together for the purpose of computation of the result. The theory marks obtained in one examination and practical marks obtained in another examination will not be added together for computation of result. Minimum of passing in theory and practical shall be as per university regulation.  The same rule holds for the students who choose Paper M 405E as optional paper.

Optional Papers

Every student has to study three optional papers. Each of the optional papers will be chosen from a prescribed set of papers. For offering a paper as an optional paper, there must be at least five students choosing that paper.  The following papers are recommended as optional papers subject to the aforesaid condition on the minimum number of students.

Optional Paper – I (From pure Mathematics)

M 403 A:

Graph Theory

M 403 B:

Riemannian Geometry

M 403 C:

Theory of Numbers

M 403 D:

Special Functions

M 403 E:

Navenlinna theory

M 403 F:

Theory of Partitions

M 403 G:

Cryptography

Optional Paper – II (From Applied Mathematics)

M 404 A:

Magnetohydrodynamics

M 404 B:

Fluid dynamics of ocean and atmosphere

M 404 C:
