Indian Institute of Management, Shillong (IIM Shillong) is an autonomous institute of management education and research. It is one, amongst the group of 19 IIM’s in other parts of India. IIMS is the 7th IIM to be stup. IIM, Shillong was established in 2007 for offering quality management education and research in Northeast India. It commenced its academic session from 2008-09 in Shillong. It is also known as Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (RGIIM). It is recognized as a premiere management Institution. The decision of coming up with an Indian Institute of Management in the North East was unanimously taken by the Union Minister of Human Resource Development along with the Chief Ministers of the North Eastern States in the Review Meeting held at Shillong during June 2004. Shillong was drafted as the permanent location for the institute after consultation between the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) and the Chief Ministers of States of the region. The institute is currently functioning from a temporary campus in the Mayurbhanj Complex (the erstwhile summer palace of Mayurbhanj Kings). The Campus includes a main building wherein the administrative office, faculty offices, classrooms, library and conference halls are housed. Apart from the main building, the Institute also has an auditorium, guesthouse, number of small syndicate rooms (separate) and student dormitories within the campus. Faculty residences are situated just adjacent to the campus.

Facilities at IIMS
Hostels – There are separate hostel facilities for girls and boys. Both single and double occupancy rooms available for the students. It provides basic amenities like a cot, mattress, room heater, wardrobe, study table and a chair in every room. The hostels have wireless mesh network (WMN). There is also a common reading room, common recreation room equipped with table-tennis, carom, and television facilities.
Class Rooms - All the class rooms equipped with modern facilities like smart board with Internet connectivity. This saves the participants from jotting down class notes, and instead concentrate on the discussion. The class jotting on the board can be mailed to the email accounts of the participants after the class. The classes are also provided with high speed wireless internet connectivity, so that necessary literature from different databases can be downloaded to enhance classroom discussion. Most of the class rooms are provided with wireless microphone facilities. The classrooms are also equipped with videoconferencing facilities.
Library - The library is also known as knowledge centre and it has a good collection of books, periodicals, national and international journals, working papers and dissertations, video cassettes and compact discs. The Library is also equipped with the latest E-Resources (E-Books, E-Journals, and Data-base) such as CMIE – Prowess, ISI-Emerging Markets, ProQuest, and EBSCO – Business Source Complete.
Internet - The campus LAN is supported by both wired and wireless infrastructure. High speed Internet connectivity is available across all hostel rooms through the wireless infrastructure. The gateway to outside campus is built in the form of 1 Gbps Internet leased line connection from National Knowledge Network, India. High resolution video conferencing using both IP as well as ISDN networks is enabled by such an infrastructure.
Bank – There is branch of State Bank of India with ATM facility inside the campus.
Sports – IIMS has provided facilities for sports in the form of a gymnasium, a basketball and a badminton court.
Khlur-Thma – It is the Annual Business School Festival of IIM Shillong that invites participation from all premier B-Schools across India. Khlur-Thma is a Khasi Language word which means - Battle of Stars. Khasi language is spoken primarily in the state of Meghalaya.

Health Facilities - The Institute provides medical aid to all resident students. An on-duty doctor is available in the dispensary of the campus.
MDPs - Management Development Programmes (MDPs) are specially designed short-duration quality programmes meant for the working executives of Indian industry, education, and government sectors. These programmes equip them with the advanced knowledge and skills in the evolving realities of business and management practices and applications. Majority of these programs are held in the campus of IIM-Shillong, while a few of them are designed to be held at prominent cities in the country. The programs conducted at IIM-Shillong are residential. The participants are either housed at the MDP residence located in the campus or in the best arranged accommodation in nearby hotels and guest houses. The duration of these programs ranges from two days to six months depending upon the variety, magnitude and complexity of topics covered. The In-company Programs (ICP) are conducted at the Institute as well as in the premises of the client organizations. IIM-Shillong accepts requests from organizations for conducting customized training programs for their executives at different levels.
CEDNER - The Centre for Development of North Eastern Region (CEDNER) is a centre which provides skills training to the local talented youths of the region. It was formerly known as Accelerated Learning Centre (ALC). It organises both short term and long term programmes relevant to the local community and society of the state and the region. The Centre offers a unique opportunity for the young entrepreneurs, businessmen, women, business executives and officers of the region to avail of the opportunities of training in skill development in various phases of their business and entrepreneurial activities.
Auditorium - The institutes has an auditorium within the campus used for many academic as well as extra-curricular activities.
