Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University (KSDSU) is State Government University established specifically for the promotion of Sanskrit through teaching and learning. K.S. Darbhanga University was established on 26th January, 1961. KSDSU is situated in District Darbhanga of Bihar State and its jurisdiction spreads over whole Bihar for Sanskrit teaching. The University provides courses at Intermediate, Graduate and Postgraduate level and conducts research work. It has its campus situated in Laxmishwar Vilas Palace in Darbhanga which was donated by Maharaja Kameshwar Singh to the government of Bihar. KSDSU is prestigious member of Association of Indian Universities and is affiliated to University Grants Commission. The postgraduate department deals with subjects like Ayurveda, Vyakarna, Jyotish, Dharma Shastra, Darshana, Sahitya and Veda. Refresher courses are conducted with the grants availed by the University Grant Commission. The University has an outstanding assortment of nearly 5562 rare manuscripts including six illustrated manuscripts of the Ramayana, Gitagovinda, Srimadbhagavata and Durga Saptasati etc. The few manuscripts of Vidyapati, Mahesh Thakur composed in their own scripts are among the proud possession of the University.

Hostels – The University provides separate hostel facilities for girls and boys in the campus itself.
There are 4 hostels:
Library – The central library is composed of the books donated by by Kameshwar Singh. It consists of over 1 lakh books and various research papers. It subscribes to various Sanskrit magazines and journals as well. The library also provides computing facilities
