About Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University

Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University (BNMU) also known as B. N. Mandal University is a State Government University. BNMU was created in January 1992 by Bihar State Enactment. (Bihar State Universities Amendment Act 1991) passed in August 1991 bifurcating L. N. Mithila University, Darbhanga. B. N. Mandal University got enlisted in the list of recognised universities under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The jurisdiction of the university extends to Koshi and Purnea, divisions of Bihar. The university also acts as an affiliating institution and provides various graduate programs through several colleges and institutes located in Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnia, Supaul and other surrounding districts. The University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Its campus is spread over an area of 32.98 acres.

Facilities at BNMU

Hostels – The University provides adequate accommodation facilities in the university campus. There are separate hostels for girls and boys.

Library - The University has a central Library, besides the Departmental Libraries. The Library has about 1 lakh books, thousands of manuscripts and several other reading materials. It also subscribes to various national and International Journals.

Laboratories - All Science Departments including Psychology and Geography have well equipped laboratory of teaching and research.

Computer Centre - Besides the facilities for practical works in different courses available at the University Headquarter, the constituent colleges of the University also have well equipped computer centres and language laboratories at different district Headquarters.

Health Care - The University Health Care-cum-Dispensary provides medical facility for students, teachers and other employees residing in the university campus as well as outside of the university campus round the Clock. It has service of three doctors, nurses and sufficient number of supporting paramedical staff.

Sports - A large Sports complex is located on the Campus for different Outdoor and Indoor games particularly for athletics events, with the assistance of the Sports Authority of India, New Delhi.
