ME High Voltage Engineering or Master of Engineering in High Voltage Engineering is a Post-Graduate Electronics course. The High Voltage Engineering course deals with the physical behaviour of equipment and systems for production, transmission and use of electrical energy, and with the construction and characteristics of this equipment and systems.

Design of high voltage power apparatus, estimation of electrical field strength in power apparatus, development of methods of detecting faults during impulse voltage testing, estimation of overvoltage power apparatus, the study of Micro-arrays, and development of Gene chips are the major areas of research in high voltage engineering. The Master of Engineering programme in High Voltage Engineering encompasses research and modelling of material characteristics in electric fields, material ageing, discharges, and breakdown in gases, liquids, solids, and complex insulating systems (multi-phase systems). Modern high voltage measurement techniques, as well as testing and diagnostics of various components and apparatus, are also important.

ME High Voltage Engineering Eligibility

  • Aspiring students should have passed their Graduation degrees such as a BE / BTech degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
  • The candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or equivalent in their Bachelor's.
  • Some of the reputed institutes conduct an entrance examination for admission.
