NDRI DAHD Entrance Exam 2024 Eligibility

Educational Qualification

  • Aspiring candidates must have passed the 10 Standard Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination within scope and standard found to be equivalent to the Secondary School Examination of the recognized board after a period of 10 years of study.
  • Candidate must have passed the qualifying examination as enumerated above securing not less than 50% of the total marks (or equivalent grades/ OGPA etc.) for General, OBC, and UPS categories and 40% of the total marks (or equivalent grades/OGPA, etc.) for SC/ST, Physically handicapped and NEH states nominated candidates.

Age Limits

  • Aspiring candidates who must have attained the age of 15 years but not more than 21 years are eligible.

 

NDRI DAHD Entrance Exam 2024 Syllabus

NDRI DAHD Entrance Exam consists of questions from the following Subjects/Topics.

For English

  • Tenses, Modals (have to/had to, must, should, need, ought to and their negative forms), Use of passive voice, Subject-verb concord, Reporting - Commands and requests, Statements, questions: Clauses:(i) Noun clauses, (ii) Adverb clauses of condition and time, (iii) Relative clauses, Prepositions; Punctuation (semicolon, colon, dash, a hyphen, parenthesis or use of brackets and exclamation mark); Gender.

For General Knowledge

  • General knowledge is expected from the 10 Standard students.

For Mathematics

  • Real Numbers, Algebra, Arithmetic progressions, simple Arithmetic problems, Lines & Angles, Triangles, Circles, Area, Surface Area and Volumes, Statistics ( Mean, Median, and Mode), Trigonometric ratios of angles (sin, cos, and tan of 0, 30, 45, 60, 90 )

For Science

Matter: Definition of matter; solid, liquid, and gas; characteristics - shape, volume, density; change of state-melting (absorption of heat), freezing, evaporation (Cooling by evaporation), condensation, sublimation.

  • Nature of matter: Elements, compounds, and mixtures. Heterogeneous and homogenous mixtures, colloids, and suspensions; atoms and molecules. Law of constant proportions. Atomic and molecular masses. Structure of atom: Electrons, protons, and neutrons; Isotopes and isobars.
  • Motion, force, and work: Distance and displacement, velocity; acceleration, Force and motion, Newton’s laws of motion, inertia, momentum, force, and acceleration.
  • Gravitation; universal law of gravitation, the force of gravitation of the earth (gravity), mass, and weight; Work was done by a force, energy, power; kinetic and potential energy; the law of conservation of energy.
  • Sound: Nature of sound and its propagation in various media, the speed of sound, the range of hearing in humans; ultrasound; the reflection of sound.
  • Effects of Current: Electric current, potential difference, Ohm’s law; Resistance, Resistivity, Heating effect of Electric current and its applications in daily life. Electric Power.
  • Magnetic effects of current: Magnetic field, field lines, Fleming’s left-hand and Right-Hand rules. Electromagnetic induction. Induced current. Direct current. Alternating current
  • Sources of Energy: Different forms of energy, conventional and non-conventional sources of energy: fossil fuels, solar energy; biogas; wind, water, and tidal energy; nuclear energy. Renewable versus non-renewable sources.
  • Light: Reflection, Refraction; laws of refraction, refractive index, Power of a lens; defects of vision and their corrections, applications of spherical mirrors and lenses. Dispersion of light, the scattering of light, and applications in daily life. Organization in the living world: Cell - Basic Unit of life: Cell as a basic unit of life; prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, multi-cellular organisms; cell membrane and cell wall, cell organelles; chloroplast, mitochondria, vacuoles, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus; nucleus, chromosomes - basic structure, number. Tissues, Organs, Organ System, Organism, Structure, and functions of animal and plant tissues.
  • Life Processes: Basic concept of nutrition, respiration, transport, and excretion in plants and animals. Movements in plants; Introduction to plant and animal hormones.
  • Our environment: Eco-system, Environmental problems, Ozone depletion, waste production, and their solutions. Biodegradable and non-biodegradable, substances. Air, water, and soil pollution (brief introduction). Holes in the ozone layer and the probable damages.
  • Reproduction and Heredity: Reproduction in animals and plants (asexual and sexual) Heredity; Mendel’s contribution- Laws for the inheritance of traits: Basic concepts of evolution.
  • Conservation of Natural Resources: Management of natural resources. Conservation and judicious use of natural resources. Forest and wildlife, coal and petroleum conservation. Examples of People’s participation in the conservation of natural resources.
  • Big dams: advantages and limitations; alternatives if any. Water harvesting. Sustainability of natural resources.
  • Periodic classification of elements: Need for classification, Modern Periodic table, gradation in properties, valency, Atomic number, metallic and non-metallic properties. Acids, bases, and salts: Their definitions in terms of furnishing of H+ and OH- ions, General properties, examples, and uses, the concept of pH, and its importance in everyday life.
  • Metals and non-metals: Properties of metals and non-metals, reactivity series, formation and properties of ionic compounds, basic metallurgical processes, corrosion, and its prevention.
  • Chemical reactions: types of chemical reactions: combination, decomposition, displacement, doubles displacement, precipitation, neutralization, oxidation, and reduction.

 

NDRI DAHD Entrance Exam 2024 Pattern

  • There will be only one paper based on Science, Mathematics, and English language of 10 Standard syllabi and General Knowledge expected from 10 Standard.
  • The entrance examination will be 2 hrs duration and 150 marks. The Paper will be of objective type with multiple-choice questions.

Note: The qualifying marks in the entrance examination will be 50% for general, OBC & UPS, and 45% for SC / ST and PH categories.
