GATE 2022 Registrations likely to begin

The online registration process for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 is likely to begin from the last week of August 2021 on the official website.

GATE 2022 is conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and six other Indian Institutes of Technology at

  • Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai,
  • Indian Institute of Technology Delhi,
  • Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati,
  • Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur,
  • Indian Institute of Technology Chennai,
  • Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee &
  • The Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru,

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various Under-Graduate subjects in Engineering and Science for admission into the master's program and recruitment by some public sector companies.

Eligibility Conditions

A candidate who is currently studying in the 3rd or higher year of any Under-Graduate degree program OR has already completed a government-approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts.

Negative marking

  • For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be a negative marking.
  • For the 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
  • For the 2-mark MCQ, the 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
  • No negative markings for MSQ & NAT.
