BE Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering is an Under-Graduate Electrical Engineering course. The duration of the Bachelor of Engineering course in Electrical Engineering is four years and it deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism and involves the study of generation, distribution, and transmission of electrical power. The Bachelor of Engineering degree program in Electrical Engineering also covers a range of sub-disciplines such as power, instrumentation, analog & digital electronics, control systems, signal processing, and telecommunications.

The Bachelor of Engineering degree program in Electrical Engineering topics generally covers the study of almost all the above-mentioned sub-disciplines of electrical engineering in its initial 2-3 years and then moves towards specialization in one or more sub-disciplines towards the final years. The Bachelor of Engineering degree program in Electrical Engineering lays strong and detailed emphasis on the understanding of electrical networks, electrical energy converters, electromagnetic field theory, and related devices, electrical energy distribution systems, etc. The engineering course is a very valuable and important one in the electrical field which opens many career scopes for the degree holders.

BE Electrical Engineering Eligibility

  • Aspiring students should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with a reasonably high percentage of marks in the aggregate and clearing the different national and state level entrance exams such as the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE), Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT), etc, conducted by different universities and colleges across the country.
  • Selection to the BE in Electrical Engineering degree course is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e., total marks aggregated in the final exams of 10+2 and the entrance exams.
  • A Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) in the country. The entrance to the IITs can be secured only after clearing this JEE.
  • An examination is also conducted by the Associate Membership of the Institute of Engineers (AMIE), which enables working people in the private/public sector and diploma holders to acquire a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering through distance education. The degree awarded is considered equivalent to a regular BE in Electrical Engineering degree.
