BSc Fisheries or Bachelor of Science in Fisheries is an Under-Graduate Fisheries Science course. Fisheries science is the academic subject that studies and manages fisheries. It is a multidisciplinary science that draws on aquaculture disciplines such as breeding, genetics, biotechnology, nutrition, farming, disease diagnosis in fishes and other aquatic resources, medical treatment of aquatic animals; fish processing such as curing, canning, freezing, value addition, by-products, and waste utilization, quality assurance and certification, fisheries microbiology, fisheries biochemistry; and fisheries resource management including biology, anatomy, taxonomy, physiology, population dynamics; fisheries environment including oceanography, limnology, ecology, biodiversity, aquatic pollution; fishing technology including gear and craft engineering, navigation and seamanship, marine engines; fisheries economics and management and fisheries extension. The Fisheries degree lasts four years, and students who complete it successfully have several job options in other connected industries.
