M.Phil. Botany or Master of Philosophy in Botany is a postgraduate Botany course. Botany is a branch of biology and is the scientific study of plant life and development. Botany covers a wide range of scientific disciplines that study higher plants, algae, and fungi including structure, growth, reproduction, metabolism, development, diseases, and chemical properties and evolutionary relationships between the different groups. The duration of this pre-Doctorate degree, generally, is two years but it also of one-year time span by some institutes. The course is divided into two semesters and it is also being provided by some institutes in India on a part-time basis. The degree course is career orienting in nature which opens a lot of job scopes for the candidates after its completion.
