P.G.D. Social Work or Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work is a postgraduate Social Work course. Social Work refers to various services designed to aid and increase the welfare of the poor, aged and needy. PGDSW is the First of its kind in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system in India. It has been designed to provide essential know-how, skills and professional knowledge for the functionaries involved in social welfare and development sectors in the country. The duration of the course is one year and the maximum duration to complete the course is four years. The Medium of Instructions is available both in English and Hindi. Those interested in continuing the study in social work for a Masters Degree can join the MSW Programme for the 2nd year and request for credit transfer of PGDSW. The course is an important and job oriented one in the social sector along with others.
