BIT Mesra MCA Exam 2024 - The Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, also acronym as BIT Mesra takes an Online Entrance Test for shortlisting candidates for admission to its 3-year / 6-semester  full-time MCA program. BIT Mesra MCA Exam 2024 Eligibility 

To be eligible to take this test and get admission to the reputed institute the candidate must full fill following given conditions otherwise his candidature will stand canceled at any stage:

  1. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (a minimum of three years of education (10+2+3 system) after completing higher secondary schooling.) of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India/AIU.

  2. Candidates must have one of the following qualifications:
  • BCA OR
  • B.Sc in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Electronics, OR
  • B.Sc / B.A with Mathematics or Statistics at the graduate level
  1. Candidates for B.Sc / B.A Honors must have a minimum of 60% (45% in case of  SC / ST candidates) marks on average in their Honors subject. Candidates for BCA and other graduate courses must have a minimum of 60% (45% in the case of  SC / ST candidates) marks on average in graduation, marks to be computed as an average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which the candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).

Important:-Candidates having qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programs are eligible only if they acquired such qualifications as working professionals/while in employment.

Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor's program in the respective year can also apply, and if selected can join the program provisionally subject to their submitting the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification with the requisite marks by 31 October.

At the time of the counseling, they must bring (i) certificate in original from the Principal of their Institute stating that by 30 June of the year they will have appeared for the examination in all subjects required for obtaining their Bachelor's degree. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

 

BIT Mesra MCA Exam 2024 Syllabus 

BIT Mesra exam consists of the following given subject:

Section A - Mathematics

  • Algebra: Fundamental operations in algebra, expansion, factorization, quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations, and combinations, surds
  • Set Theory: Sets and subsets, operations on sets, sequences, properties of integers, relations, and functions
  • Matrix Algebra: Elementary transformations, an inverse of a matrix, rank, solution of simultaneous linear equations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, quadratic forms
  • Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, equations of a line, midpoint, intersections, etc., equations of a circle, distance formulae, the pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.
  • Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous functions, differentiation of functions(s), tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima, integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integral application to volumes and surfaces of frustums of a sphere, cone, cylinder, Taylor Series.
  • Differential Equations: Differential equations of the first order and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, homogenous linear differential equations
  • Vectors: Position vector, additions and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics
  • Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, a solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse function
  • Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, averages, dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, and measures of dispersions, skewness, and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, binomial, Poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, and the principle of least squares, correlation, and regression
  • Linear Programming: Formulation of simple linear programming problems, basic concepts of graphical and simplex methods, revised simplex method, transportation and assignment problems, duality and integer programming

Section C - Computer Awareness

  • Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, memory organization, backup devices
  • Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers, and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic: Addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, single arithmetic, and two complement arithmetic, floating-point representation of numbers, normalized floating-point representation, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams
  • Computer Architecture: Block structure of computers, communication between a processor and I / O devices, interrupts
  • Computer Language: Assembly language and high-level language, Multiprogramming and time-sharing operating systems, Computer Programming in C
  • Flowchart and Algorithms
  • Operating Systems: Evolution of operating systems, types of operating systems, functions of an operating system, modern operating systems.

Section B - Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning

  • Questions in this section will test the logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and Visio-spatial reasoning

 

BIT Mesra MCA Exam 2024 Pattern 

  • BIT Mesra exam is a multiple-choice based entrance exam, with negative marking for wrong answers.
  • The paper comprises 120 questions to be answered in 2 hours.
  • Each question shall carry 4 marks for the correct answer.
  • For every incorrect answer, one mark shall be deducted.
  • If a question has not been attempted no credit will be given.
