TANCET MCA 2024 - Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test acronym TANCET is conducted by TNSF - Consortium i.e., Consortium of Self-Financing Professional, Arts and Science Colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu. The test is basically conducted for those candidates who are interested to join MBA, MCA, ME and M.Tech courses available in the listed colleges coming under the TNSF - Consortium in the management quota seats.

TANCET Exam 2024 Eligibility (for MCA course)

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at the (10+2) or at the Bachelor's level are eligible to take this test. OR
  • All those candidates who are appearing at the Bachelor's degree examination in the respective year and fulfil the aforementioned criteria are also eligible but they will have to furnish proof of having passed the Bachelor's degree examination at the time of admission to the respective institutes.

Note: Indian Nationals are only eligible to apply for this test.

 

TANCET Exam 2024 Syllabus

TANCET exam consists of the following given subject:-

Algebra

Coordinate Geometry
Calculus
Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansion, factorization, simultaneous linear/quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations, surds, determinants, matrices and application to the solution of simultaneous linear equations. 

Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, equations of a line, midpoint, intersections, etc., equations of a circle, distance formulae, a pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.

Limit of functions, continuous functions, differentiation of functions(s), Tangents and normal, simple examples of maxima and minima, Integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integral application to volumes and surfaces of frustums of a sphere, cone, cylinder, Taylor Series. 
Differential Equations

Vector

Trigonometry
Differential equations of the first order and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, and homogenous linear differential equations.

The Position vector, additions and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.

Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, and measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, Binomial, Poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, and a principle of least squares, correlation and regression.

Formulation of simple linear programming problems, basic concepts of graphical and simplex methods

Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, memory organization, backup devices

Computer Architecture

Computer Language
Representation of characters, integers, and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic: Addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, single arithmetic and two complement arithmetic, floating-point representation of numbers, normalized floating-point representation, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

Block structure of computers, communication between the processor and I / O devices, interrupts

Assembly language and high-level language, Multiprogramming and time-sharing operating systems, and Computer Programming in C.

Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning

The questions in this section will cover logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and visuospatial reasoning.

 

TANCET Exam 2024 Pattern

This MCA Entrance Exam is a multiple-choice-based entrance exam, with negative markings for wrong answers.

The two-hours paper comprises 100 questions of one mark each comprising of the following given topics:-

Computer Awareness Logical Reasoning   Quantitative Ability

Each question shall carry 1 mark for the correct answer. For every incorrect answer, one-fourth mark shall be deducted. If a question has not been attempted no credit will be given.

Interested candidates can apply for TANCET Online by visiting the official website i.e., annauniv.edu and following the instructions given there.

 

TANCET 2024 Exam Fees

Candidates have to submit only one application. The candidates have to pay a fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu on the production of a copy of the Permanent Community Certificate in card format) as an entrance test fee for any one of the programmes either

(1) MBA or

(2) MCA or

(3) M.E / M.Tech / M.Arch / M.Plan

If a candidate desires to appear for more than one programme, for every additional programme, he/ she has to pay Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu). 

The demand draft should be drawn in favour of ‘The Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University,’ payable at Chennai, obtained from any Nationalized bank on or after the mentioned date.
