Indian Air Force Airman Exam 2022 - Indian Air Force Airman Exam acronym IAF Airman Exam is conducted by the Central Airmen Selection Board of IAF for unmarried male Indian Citizens to enable them to join IAF as Airmen in:
- Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades or
- Group‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P) and Musician} Trades or
- in both Groups ‘X & Y’.
Note: IAF Airman Exam is conducted twice a year generally in the month of April/ May and August/ September on the National level to admit young candidates in IAF as trade Airmen. Due to its National level approach this test is taken by most of the tenth class pass defense services aspirants on a priority basis.

Educational Qualification
Fo(a) Group ‘X’ (Technical). (i) Passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics,
Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR (ii) Passed
Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile /
Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) from a Government recognized
Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in overall aggregate, and 50% marks in English in Diploma or in
Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course.
(b) Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical). (i) Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/
subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50%
marks in English. OR (ii) Passed Two years Vocational Course affiliated/recognized by CBSE /
State Education Boards / Councils duly recognized at par with 10+2 by Association of Indian Universities
(AIU) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Vocational Course or in
Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.
(c) Both Groups ‘X&Y’ (Eligible for both Technical and Non-Technical). Candidates possessing
educational qualification as stipulated at Para 2(a) (i). (Candidates will take the examination for Group ‘X’
and Group ‘Y’ subjects in one sitting and can qualify for Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’ or both i.e. if candidate passes
in English and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA), then he will be considered pass in Group ‘Y’ and if he
passes in English, Physics and Maths, he is considered pass in Group ‘X’. If a candidate clears in all the four
subjects, he will be considered pass in Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’.)

Notes
- Candidates eligible for the Group X examination (on the basis of intermediate/10+2) are also eligible for Group Y and would be given an option of appearing in both group X and Group Y exams in one sitting while filling up the online registration form.
- Diploma holders are eligible to appear for Group X trades only.
- Education Boards listed on the Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website as members, as on the date of registration will only be considered.

Aspiring candidates should be between 16 years to 21 years.

A candidate must either be:
- a citizen of India, OR
- a subject of Bhutan, OR
- a subject of Nepal, OR
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, OR
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv), and (v) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Certificates of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

- Chest Expanded chest measurement should not be less than 75 cm with a minimum range of expansion of 5 cm.
- Weight: Corresponding to height and age.
- Vision: At least 6/12 in each eye without glasses or 6/6 in the better eye and 6/36 in the worse eye without glasses, correctable to 6/6 in each eye with glasses.
- Normal hearing.

IAF Airman Exam 2022 Pattern
- The question paper will be bilingual, consisting of the objective questions in the above given two parts.
- The candidates will be required to qualify for each part separately.
Note: Results will be declared on the same day and the successful candidates have to immediately appear in a Trade Allocation Test.
Physical Fitness
All the aspiring candidates have to undergo a mandatory physical test and have to qualify for it to be eligible.

- Aspiring candidates can apply on A-4 Size paper only as per the approved format.
- The old pattern of Application will not be accepted.

- Attested photocopy of Matriculation Passing Certificate in support of Date of Birth.
- Attested photocopy of Matriculation Marks Sheet (only applicable for Diploma Holders when English is not a subject in Diploma Course).
- Attested photocopies of Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Marks Sheet and Passing Certificate or Marks Sheets and Passing Certificate of all the semesters of Three years Diploma courses.
For Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Trades
- Attested photocopy of Matriculation Passing Certificate in support of Date of Birth.
- Attested photocopy of Matriculation Marks Sheet (only applicable for Vocational Course Holders when English is not a subject in Vocational Course).
- Attested photocopies of Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Marks Sheet and Passing Certificate or Marks Sheets and Passing Certificate of Two years Vocational Course.
Note: Internet copies of Mark sheets, Transfer Certificate, NCC Certificates, Sports Certificates, OBC / SC / ST Certificates, and Domicile/ Nativity Certificates are NOT (Repeat) NOT to be attached along with the application.
